Honestly better than I expected from the city council. If I'm understanding it right they will hold someone for 30 minutes for ICE to come arrest them. I think the Texas legislator needs to strengthen the requirements in Section 752.053

I think they said they are ending that policy. I think HPD was refusing to take illegals with ICE holds to HC jail if they were not being arrested for anything otherwise, but would hold them at the scene for 30 minutes if ICE wanted to come get them. My read of that says they are not going to hold them for 30 minutes anymore if they were not otherwise planning to arrest them.

Video is on X. Apparently one rapper tried to steal another's chain, which led to a fight, which led to gunshots. I used to work in that building, and that restaurant and its predecessor were both ratchet. The first restaurant closed because the owner couldn't make payroll. I'm surprised it took this long for something like this to happen.

When they knocked, Canada, naked from the waist down, ran off down the street, according to police.

Part of the confrontation was captured on a neighbor's camera. "Why are you here?" and a pleading "mom, mom" could be heard on the video after Canada allegedly ran past the camera.

Police say he resisted, and officers used a Taser to arrest him.

In court the next day, Canada appeared with his arm in a sling. His family said his collarbone was fractured during the arrest.

Court records list Claughton Middle School as his employer, and the school's website identifies the 32-year-old as a theater arts teacher.

On Monday, the district did not respond to questions about his employment status.

Canada is charged with felony and misdemeanor evading arrest. He has no prior criminal history, according to online records.
