417 law enforcement brought in, strict rules on parking/driving on the beach - seems to have curtailed most of the nonsense that we heard has happened here recently. It's only Friday early afternoon, so we'll see.

Loonies on Facebook are acting like they've declared martial law.

Over 500 law enforcement here now. DPS called up another 40 from the border. Checkpoint near Rollover has traffic backed up into High Island. Mostly drugs and guns confiscated so far. Hope is they turn around and go back to where they come. Its only Friday and tbe sun hasnt gone down yet. Tomorrow is the real **itshow.

I think not letting anyone on the beach at all, like to just sit and enjoy the beach, was a bit of overkill. We got out and walked around some Friday and yesterday, but they weren't allowing people to set up their canopy things and just hang out. Kinda sucks for the regular folks that just came down here for some beach time, ya know.

But I saw on TV this morning that there was an area where the jeep clubs gathered and still did their thing, and the jeeps/trucks/cars were allowed to parade up and down the beach.

Looks like everything is back to normal this morning, but it's really windy and the surf is up, so no one is out there yet.

Less than 350 arrests, no shooting, no stabbings, no rapes or sexual assaults, no kidnappings, etc. GLO approved and they have the final say. We live outside the "event zone" and had 2 jeep clubs here and they were polite, respectful, and picked up their trash. Act right and obey the law. Pretty simple concept. GLO has the say on the open beaches act and if they deem it necessary to close all or part, they can do that. 52 weekends in a year, 1 weekend with an "inconvenience" is a small price to pay for safety of life and property. Hope they do the same thing next year.
