Howdy!

My name is Jim Barrows, class of '97, and I want to introduce myself and my company on TexAgs.

I started Sheepdog Marksmanship Training 5 years ago shortly after retiring from the Army. I've been an avid competitive shooter for 25 years (with breaks along the way during my Army career) and had the honor of two assignments with the Army Marksmanship Unit, concluding my career as the AMU Commander. For those familiar with competitive shooting, I've earned multiple Grand Master classifications in Steel Challenge and Master classification in USPSA and love competing today!

I've always had a passion for firearms and firearms training and today, I love sharing my knowledge and experience to make people better. My range and classroom are in Central Texas, about 40 miles west of Waco outside of Gatesville.

I offer a variety of classes, but primarily focus on handgun training. I love working with new gun owners and getting them on the right path with a solid foundation on the fundamentals of shooting. I particularly enjoy working with people that want to take their training to the next level and improve their skills through my Defensive Pistol and Pistol Red Dot classes. Both my competition background and assignments with the AMU helped shape my approach to training and my goal is to provide as much individual attention as possible. I keep my classes small, typically 8 or less to maximize individual attention.

Training with School Marshals

Regularly scheduled courses are typically on Saturdays and are posted on my website through June. I'm constantly adding more training dates. I'm also available during the week for individual or private classes. I frequently see posts where people are seeking firearms training and hope to earn an opportunity to work with more of you . I've established connections with a number of you over the last few years through TexAgs and look forward to building more relationships and get you on my range!

Just finished two days and 16 miles of Run & Gun competition

I lurk TexAgs far more than I post, but I'm certainly happy to answer questions here or feel free to contact me through my website/email:
