Not concerned with mpg per se. Just trying to compare between the 2 engines I asked about.

I've said it before but if this board is in anyway indicative of real life, then buying a truck of any brand or model is about the dumbest damn vehicle decision anyone could ever make.

This board has scared me from ever buying a truck of any kind. Cam phasers, lifters, transmissions, electronics, spontaneous combustion....trucks got it all bad.

There's overly cautious and there's plain stupid. In my opinion, buying a GM product of ANY kind fits into the latter. Some people disagree while other's don't care -- they're going to buy the best looking and/or feature driven vehicle they can find and screw reliability.

The bottom line is, it's YOUR money.

They are all **** now, even Toyota. Just buy for features and get an extended warranty. And oddly enough the GM 2.7 is probably the most reliable half ton truck motor out right now.

Aren't there still serious issues with the GM 6.2? Hundreds of thousands of recalls, "fixed" by running a different oil. Not a fan....

Test drove a raptor. Big mistake - what an incredible truck.

Hate the small displacement turbo engines. Hate the exhaust note. Love my post recall ZR2 6.2L and it was $11k off MSRP

Different oil weight doesn't sound like the best fix in the world to me. Potential for future lifter issues also remains

After you buy it, sign up for the Raptor Assault school in Utah.

yes. the 0w-40 to fix high shearing in the engine has not solved all of the issues.

How many of the earlier Raptor 6.2L versions are out there? I'd assume they are offered for a premium since they moved to the smaller turbo.

Better engine. Better sound. Cheaper price if you can find them?

A moderate to low mileage good condition Gen1 brings all the money. Even higher mileage ones if maintained are highly sought after.

I had a '13 FX4. All the bells and whistles back in the day.

When I was in with the finance guy we joked about Raptors and he said just wait 18 months and they're back on the lot. Maybe because they were newer, but he said people get them, don't realize how wide they are, how hard they are to park and daily drive, and of course the mileage. Then they're back in his office to get a "regular" truck.

I could see that. But the raptor seems smaller and much more agile/responsive than my 2500 daily driver.

Maybe it's just Fords, but he said the turning radius in the Raptor was/is worse than their 3/4 ton and it's wider. Never had either, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's definitely wider, but I'm not a city dweller, so rarely have to park in cramped parking lots. Even before I got a Raptor, I've always tried to park way out away from other cars or in an end spot (close to the curb) so I can avoid door dings. The only places where the width is a problem is at the drive through bank (it's close but fits) and automated car washes won't touch it.

Compared to my Dad's 2024 F250 Diesel, it's like driving a go kart. Shorter wheel base, less weight, and wider track give it better handling. The suspension is a completely different world. Even small bumps in the F250 are back breaking compared to the Raptor. My brother that drives a cheaply lifted Chevy 2500 and thinks the F250 rides like an Ox Cart by comparison.

I have a 2014 with 140k. I take regular maintenance seriously. Daily driver and major trips from east coast to TX. Snow, mountains, but not Moab. I have had it on desert roads between Big Bend and Terlingua. 90 MPH through dry river beds are fun; then I drove home.

That said. I wish I still had my '03 Land Cruiser that I sold in 2020 with 245k miles. Nothing to do with the Raptor. Just a dumb decision on my part.

My 2500 tremor definitely feels like a covered wagon sometimes. I do miss the cushiony feel of my '21 f150.

That's one of the only areas the GMC/CHEVY 2500 AT4X shines over the Tremor. The Multimatic suspension rides great.

Doesn't help that 250 tremor is really just a 350. This thing can tow heavy.

Got to be careful there, don't want to get pulled over by an overzealous highway patrolman and be over 26k without a CDL

26k is the GVWR limit… I wonder if I could put 19,000lbs in the bed of this truck.

I did put 2.5 yards of soil in it last year and it barely squatted an inch.

Sorry have to harsh your buzz, but the GVWR of the F-250 Tremor is 10,100 lbs. It can tow 18,200lbs for a GCWR of 28,300 lbs.

That is pretty standard and nothing to be upset about, same with the GMC AT4/AT4X. I haven't checked the RAM. I would love for GM to offer an H.O. option on their duramax like the powerstroke has.

That's what it's rated at but this thing is easily a 12k GVWR vehicle. It's a derated f350. I've seen diesel f350 tremors with over 4k payload.

Anyways, I'm just tickled that I can easily tow a 16k fifth wheel. This truck makes my 35' 9k bumper pull seem like nothing.

The best bet to stay under there CDL limit, is get an F250 with the 11,900 gvwr package and a trailer with dual 7K axels, putting you just under the 26K pound GVWR limit. Then don't put a load on the trailer that is more than 14K pounds including the trailer weight.

What a lot of people don't understand is that with these constant growing GVWRs on pickups, just hooking up to a heavy duty but empty trailer can put you over the limit.
ChoppinDs40

GVWR is the weight of the vehicle, only. 26,000 pounds is the limit for the vehicle weight.

Do we really think guys with DRW pulling 35' horse trailers have CDLs? Come on guys. Or grandpa pulling a 44' 5th wheel that weighs 19,000 lbs?

The rating for the vehicle AND trailer is GCWR.

Additionally, this is not towing commercially.
