i think more than anything else the fans that are the most engaged who follow the team on sites like this are at a point that it's put up or shut up time. the pressure was turned up multiple notches with texas moving to the sec. their success only ratcheted it up even more. texas a&m football needs to put on their big boy pants and show out this year or the apathy will only increase.

but in true aggie form i am hopeful the boys will do it this year.

Not just this board. Just about every board. Where have all the heroes gone?


Also, staph seems to have taken a turn on moderation and consolidate every thread until it's only four or five active threads.

I feel like this is overstated. When we signed the greatest recruiting class of all time-time, this board lit up like a Christmas tree. If it were to happen again, not many here would be complaining about NIL.

Elko's epic, 2nd half of the season failure did things inward for me and many others. He dangled culture change over us when he made the switch to Reed during the LSU game, and had the team in first place.

It now feels like nothing has changed nor will it anytime soon. If it could change in my life-time, that would be great, but im no longer skeptical

Obviously, this is not the exact same thing, but we had the #1 recruiting class in the nation not too long ago, and still have a top 3 class, and it is real hard to find a positive comment about it. I'm not sure the mood around the current prominent posters would change much if we signed the #1 class again ("It doesn't matter anyways, they'll all be gone in a year", or "The portal is all that really matters anyways", etc.)

I'm not sure why we are saying that a failure to change culture is tied to a late season collapse. Those aren't related in almost any way. Maybe you can say if we had a better culture, guys would be in better shape and therefore we wouldn't have as many injuries, but that is a real stretch. There were certainly some individual culture issues with potential high draft picks seemingly disappearing late season, but it is hard to blame those kind of cultural issues from third year players on a new coach. That collapse late year last year hurt, but tying it to culture seems strange. If Elko turns into Sumlin 2.0, I will eat my words, but he gets a full year of his own program first.

I was as disappointed with last year's end as everyone else, but saying that nothing has change and won't is a strange viewpoint for the first year we've ever been in the lead of the SEC rankings heading into November.

Overall, the issue with apathy is strong because 1) last season ended poorly (for football and the other major sports), 2) it's hard to get excited about recruiting, no matter how well we are doing, because there is no reasonable assurance that any given recruit will still be here in three years, 3) Marcel Reed is not exactly at the top of Heisman boards, and 4) Elko seems to be much more tight-lipped than Jimbo in the offseason. That means that there are not as many obvious positives as there have been some other years, despite the fact that we might be better positioned this year than we have been in a while.

1) Lack of on field results.
2) Too many fans with horns down no matter who we are playing.
3) Most traditions are great but the cringey ones always seem to find the tv cameras.

When every new topic is invaded by the terminally-BASsed it's hard to get excited about posting anything. The other things mentioned contribute to be sure but the consistent negativity is difficult to be around. It's a damn shame too.

I forgot to mention that gameday threads are the absolute worst fan experience in existence.

When the entire hive mind melts down over an incomplete pass or missed tackle in the first 2 min of a game, it pretty unappealing and hard to stick around this place

I think many of us felt that the curse had been broken last season. So far there is no indication that anything has changed since 1940.

Op- come back and explain you are talking specifically about this board, not necessarily the team and it's relative success

This. Lots of reason to not like the direction it had taken, but your crazy not to be excited by the approaching fall of cool weather, brats, grills, beer, and oh….college football. No better sport. No better passion.

Man I'm loving A&M Football, these days! Elko's been here 18 months and we've got a 92.23 avg recruit ranking with 20+ Blue Chip's committed. And this is calculated recruiting, not just blind offers to the Top 30. Probably helps that I'm an Elko Fan, from his years as our DC, but you losers are nuts.. If you aren't looking forward to the 10th, 11th, 14th, 18th you're missing out.. Brown, Ford, Watkins, Wilson, Womack..... the future of this team. We've just landed the #2 DL, with a favorable chance of landing the #1 in 3 days. From a common sense perspective, it's hard to believe Aggie Football is this far along just 18 months after a $76 million Dumpster Fire.

Good start, encouraging, but it is just that

The point is this board =/= the team winning/losing alot.

It has become a pot banging doomers paradise. It didn't used to be that way. It seems to me that the fans feel entitled to winning something as if they have any control whatsoever. Its turned into a playground for those that envy what they do not have.

It used to be an Aggie board- a group of fans that stuck by their team no matter. Every other teams sucks, because **** them, that's why. Now it's ad-nauseum *****ing.
