I am more curious as to whether or not he's cleaned up the pre-snap "tells."

If history is a guide, we'll be watching him play a lot this year.

On you tards could be doom and gloom over having a freshman finish his first partial year at 23rd in QBR

If he runs smart and throws open I don't give a damn.

More specifically, if he microadjusts in the pocket when it hasn't collapsed yet and goes through progressions it wont matter if he's 170 or 200

I like Reed in the lighter build he already has. If you're looking to grow him into an existing player, it's Lamar.

Lamar is about 3-4" taller and he beefed up to around 230lb a few years ago and has decided he is better off sitting at about 205lb. I expect the same is true for Reed and he should stay in a slim build.

Yeah, we traded a 180 lbs Heisman trophy winner for a body builder who couldn't hit a slant route. The irony

Reed is not a LaNorris Sellers and that's ok as long as he doesn't try to play like Sellers. So many of you are fixated on his weight and it's not near as big of a deal as y'all want it to be.

I had an engineering prof back in the day stating that many in Texas believe it's best to have a big car/truck so if you get in a wreck you have the mass advantage. But he made the point, best is to avoid the wreck all together. Having a smaller more agile car will keep you out of wrecks.

We have had numerous bigger QBs get hurt recently bc they were not allusive. And I always laugh when guys get concerned about a running QB getting hurt more. Most QBs get hurt while getting killed in the pocket and having no pocket presence.

The last time a protypical build did anything spectacular was when?

Reed said he's at 182, looking to play at 187. We all wanted to see him get significantly bigger this offseason and it doesn't look like that happened. Should this be a real concern?

I'm about 180 to 185 and don't see what difference 5lbs will make to my durability. Maybe if I was planning on tackling SEC running backs for 3 hours, but not for getting tackled a dozen times per week.

We only have a QB2 now since fans always want QB2 to replace QB1 anyway…

Weight doesn't matter much at all. Can he execute plays at a high level and make things happen? RPOs, deep throws, quick delivery etc?

Has he improved at reading defenses and making decisions? I'll take all of that over 10 pounds every time.

Man, if Reed himself was posting under this username I'd get ready for 215 by next season or perhaps even game 2.

If only we had a QB that was 6'3" 245 lbs like DJ Lagway. Then we would never have to worry about our QB being injured.

Grown men or women worrying about a football coaches weight seems odd. Mocking your own teams coach for his physical appearance is also odd. Recruits don't seem to care…also I believe that pic was taken before Elko went in dry on Clemson with Duke…just win!.

Why is his weight a concern. Does anyone have any actual data of the pros and cons of a QBs weight? I've watched football a long time and don't think I can say that an extra 10 lbs has ever actually helped a quarterback
well - Conner was over weight and got hurt ……

Don't know. If Reed gets too heavy, linemen may find it harder to shove him into the endzone:

I hope Marcel Reed can reach and maintain a playing weight of at least 185 pounds throughout the season.
