No complaints! We've upgraded but I cant think of another SEC team, with turf, that has a horrible field as much as ours

Remember the track we used to have around the field? Im surprised there werent lawsuits

When I was in school and Duble still taught rec turf, our field was the envy of the sporting world. I would have to assume it's still good. Damn sure better than the Bears stadium where they play high school games multiple times in the Friday and Saturday leading to an NFL game in a non-growing season up there. Or the old Reliant grass where the retractable roof didn't allow enough sunlight

I can't recall where I saw it, but they changed the grass type a while back. It is still bermuda but a different type. I noticed the other night that it did look like they put a lot of sand down on the field and they obviously cut it short, but they've been doing that for a while. I don't know if it is reacting differently to the weather than they expected.

Bermudagrass can take a while, including up to a year, to "take," even under the best conditions. Again, I don't recall when the change was made or why they did it.

I'm pretty sure the Reliant grass was brought in on pallets. I don't know where it lived the rest of the week but I don't think it was always under the roof.

The gold standard of turf is the Arizona stadium where they have it on a movable "tray" and roll it in for games and out afterwards. It gets full sun, whatever water it needs and doesn't have to worry about morning or evening shadows.
