I think he's a much better coach than Jimbo, Sumlin, Sherman, and Franchione combined. I believe we/you/I will hold Elko in high regard in the future. Thanks for all the input.

It's what makes it the Zoo. Elko either needs to be sh**canned yesterday or extended and given a hefty raise. There is never an in-between.

Got it. I just think he's a good coach. It's very Zoo-ish to talk about our opponents record when we win instead of the fact that we are undefeated. Cheer up mother****ers!

By no means do I think any of the 3 teams we have played are SEC contenders, but for all 3 of those opponents, I think they would say we were the best team they have played in conference so far, and that includes the likes of Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Schedule toughens up a bit, mainly from the potential of the teams still left on our schedule and the fact that they will be on the road. I have little doubt saying that on a neutral field we are better than anyone else left on our schedule, but this team has simply not played clean enough to believe we are going to run through the remaining slate.

Mizzou is a top 10-15 team, LSU is a top 5 team if they can solve their offensive woes, Texas is a top 15 team if the OL/running game stabilizes. I feel like our issues are much more correctable than those other programs and we have looked better than them already despite those issues. Hopefully the uncomfortable confines of other SEC foe's stadiums will bring out the best in this team.

I like Elko but please, for the love of all thats decent and Holy, no more statues.

Back to back good seasons would help. No A&M coach has done this going back to RC. Fran had his nine win season only to fall apart the next season. Sherman had his nin win season only to fall apart. Sumlin had his 11 win season only to fall apart for. Jimbo is 9 win season top four finish only to fall apart. Can an A&M coach build on big season.

I think what the OP sees is things like clock management (seen it several times now), the decision to make FL re-kick it and gained 30 yards of field position, his understanding of how to use the portal, how he is a disciplinarian (have heard this from people that have watched practices), and several other traits or decisions he makes. I think comparing him to Saban is way premature but I think what the OP sees is certain signs that I see as well. Then you compare them with previous coaches we have had and the contrast is unmistakable. He is a very good coach.

It's a real thing because some of us remember enough times we've thought "this is our year" only to have our hopes and dreams destroyed by the end of the season.

I think he has done a good job at building depth. Look at our depth of contributors at wr, te, and rb.

and he understands the grind that is conference play. Coaches have to be able to win close games because there will be close games. And that is the difference between an average season and a good season.

I'm optimistic, but we could lose any of the remaining conference games if we are unprepared or come out flat. And we can win any of them too.

Agree with the OP and MarylandAg's summary. No doubt Elko is a very good coach. Whether or not he'll get us to an SEC championship game or the Natty, way too early to tell. So far, so good. If the team can bring the discipline and effort every game like they did last night I like our chances to play in either or both of the aforementioned games. Elko could have developed an RC-like culture with so much more resources to build depth at every position. I love the NEW CREW
