Key and Dillingham...I don't know about them staying. The LSU job is a big step up.

BUT, in this era of NIL, there is more to the calculous.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really don't see LSU drawing a huge name from a current team in good standing

Last two cycles, they ended up with Ed O and Kelly. O was an interim carryover because Herman went to sip, and Kelly was greatly disliked at Notre Dame looking for a way out... LSU got played by Riley days earlier

I see this as a job people use to get a raise. If you're established and in place, why would you come to Baton Rouge to get fired for winning nine games a year

Some Thoughts: on Why big Names will come to LSU

1. LSU is a 10 top job in the US.
2. They have donors basically signing up to commit to roughly $100M over time.
3. Louisiana has lots of D1 talent and especially on the Off. & Def. lines. - Key for SEC teams.
4. When winning, they have a crazy fan base.

Schools will make $56m in TV contracts this year and $70-80m next year yet people are acting like they are destitute.

I dont see Key going anywhere. Yes the job pays a lot more and is a "step up". But, he was a 4 year starter at GT. He doesnt seem like the kind of guy that is going to leave just for a larger paycheck. Maybe I am wrong.

Not sure why Lanning would be in that top tier, but not Freeman.

Coach Dan Lanning has already said NO to the Alabama job.
He is building something special in the weaker Big 10.
His family really likes it in Eugene, OR.

That is why I stated that they would have to offer in the $15M range to entice him over.
But, even then he will say NO.

The Tulane coach, Jon Sumrall is Not a Big Name splash hire.

I just think of how Cody Campbell is the tech sponsor (so to speak)....what if Arky pulls a big number and commits to NIL, etc.? That's why we're having more parity....you can buy the championship with enough cash....well, except us....I mean about 7 years ago....looking forward per Elko.

From what I've learned about his background I agree. He is not done at GT. They do need to get him a raise tho

You have to have an element of crazy to wanna step into the SEC coaching, especially the LSU job...

Les Miles = mad man
Coach O = same

You have to truly love coaching and college football, know your history, and appreciate the SEC, but when you do and you want THAT job, then you truly want LSU above the others.

Louisiana has the highest NFL starting rate (per capita) of any state by 4x - There is something in that Cajun seafood that produces exemplary athletes. Yes, you need a guy like Moffett to get the best from them, but when you do, they are always the most physical of players, with the rowdiest of crowds, and you'll be legendary if you win. BUT, if you don't, you'll be gone on the alligator rail faster than they can suck the head of their crawfish.

Under ordinary circumstances, Corndog might be a top job.

But with no Pres and the AD possibly fired....

....not so sure big names want to walk into that uncertainty.

Key makes $4.5M this year. He'd make millions more at LSU. With that kind of money differential, it doesn't matter where you played football.

He has GT in the top 10 right now, and there is a whole lot to be said for familiarity, comfort and not having the pressure that he would get at swamp tigger.

Odds are he gets a raise this year anyway, and not everybody out there is doing nothing but chasing dollars.

LSU when rolling is a top 5 job, it's not rolling at the moment and a current dumpster fire.

They fired BK without a plan based on emotions the same way PSU did. They have no school president, Woodward is on his last leg at the moment, they're pressuring BK to take a reduced buyout because they're corrupt and also cash poor if they don't. Fans are revolting because they're not winning. Outright it's not a plug and play job like the one Ed O inherited …. Or even BK to some extent it's worse.

UF is a plug and play and plenty of cash on hand, if you're looking to step in and win without rebuilding per se UF is a much better job (Lane).

Now the real winner here is fat Jimmy lol who will push lane over 15mil / year

Personally I think Sumrall (?) gets the LSU job or maybe Drink.
