I would agree prior to NIL but ole miss has spent a lot of money on players recently. Ole Miss has plenty of money. Prior to NiL, I would say yes Florida is well ahead

A solid history, name brand recognition, big donors. UF is easily a step up from Ole Miss and that's not a stretch to say.

Sure about that? Prior to Spurrier coming (circa 1990), UF was an also-ran. They had like 3 9+ win seasons in their history. They had a good run with Spurrier and Meyer, but it has been shaky without those two.

Prior to 1990, Florida was even with Cal, Duke, and North Texas in winning %. Teams like Syracuse, West Virginia, Arizona, Hawaii, and Stanford were ahead of them -- but hardly elite. Taking away Spurrier and Meyer, you have a school that is essentially equal to Baylor in winning percentage.

I don't think it is a step up. Not if Ole Miss really wants to compete, and I think they do.

Ole Miss funds NIL heavily in windows, not year to year

1990 was a long time ago. Florida is basically a blue blood now with the resources to match. LSU wasn't much before 2000 either. Times change.

Also a step up in pressure. He could have been a hero at Ole Miss - he will never surpass Spurrier at UF most likely…

These schools looking for coaches have to make moves soon, the transfer portal window and signing period wait for no one and if you are late to the game could set a program back significantly!!! Not sure if true but if it was it would not surprise me.

I think schools definitely want coaches before the playoffs as the portal will open and they need to act fast for next year.

Yes I am sure Florida has a better history than Ole Miss.
more Heismans, more conference championships, more national championships. Better all time win percentage.

Not to mention high profile rivalries with Georgia, Florida State, and Miami.

Gatorade, Tebow, Spurrier, the Swamp, elite basketball, not to mention some of the HOTTEST women all over campus.

OM has what? Clanga. Yeah they got some hotties too. but UF has 3x more.

I meant to say OM only has Clanga as a rival. And its hardly a high profile game when compared to UF's historical rivals. (UGA, FSU, Miami). Thats not even including the classiccs they've had with Auburn, Tennesse, and LSU the past 35 years or so.

UF dwarfs OM in just about anything cfb related.

Stop it damnit! Freaking stop all the fake news and let the man focus on the rest of his really good season with Ole Miss. Our country is so focused on spreading rumors and providing fake news to people just to arouse themselves. Fake news, propaganda, rumors, and click bait attempt to take down good people, like Kiffin, and his family. The man is setting his team up for a national championship run. Why in the Hell would he stop what he is doing to preliminary accept a job at another program. It's people like y'all who buy into this bull**** and ...... whatever. Gig em Aggies. Beat the hell out of SC . And Coach Kiffin......tell the lying liberal fake news media......I guess, go ":!+&" Yourself

Florida-Miami isn't really a rivalry. They don't play annually, and have only played 9 times since '87, with two of those being bowl games. Florida St-Miami is a big rivalry. Florida's big rivals are Georgia, Tennessee, Florida St, in that order, at least according to my Gator family.

As Texas Tech is proving, the only thing that matters is big donors. UF is a step up from Ole Miss football-wise but 1) Lane has it going on at Ole Miss. The love him, they appreciate him, he resurrected them etc ... So he's going to start all over, where it might not work? 2) Some people value quiet, privacy, fishing hole proximity etc ... over shopping, restaurants, and traffic. I do.

I said "historical" rivals. They still do fiercely compete for the same recruits all the time since the entire state, especially the Miami-Ft Lauderdale area, is considered some of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the entire country. And if you noticed, UF and Miami have played the past two years with the Canes embarrassing UF both times.

Prior to the UF-FSU rivalry, UF-Miami was the bigger game up until 1987 when the Canes had already established their national presence with Howard and Jimmy. UF cut the series short due to SEC scheduling, but Miami claims they ran from the emerging giant that the Canes were at the time. Ever hear of "State Champs 28, National Champs 3" ? UF always looked down at FSU as a "women's college" and Miami as commuter school Yankee carpetbaggers, all the while UF was, and still is, considered the Flagship school of the state.

Oh yeah, and anyone with a football pulse knows FSU-Miami is big rivalry. Pls don't try and educate me on UF football. I have UF family.

UF rivals typically go in this order today depending on the generation: FSU, Georgia (WLOCP), and lately LSU. Tennessee (Phat Phil days) and Auburn (Spurrier coloring book comments) are your everyday heated SEC games. Besides, UT and AU consider Alabama as their main historical and hated rival. UF not so much.

But when you mention Miami, Gator fans get bent out of shape and despise the fact that Miami has them 5-3 in NCs and still own the series 31-27 and Cane fans (as ghetto as they are) are quick to mention they own the FSU series as well 37-33, thus the mythical claim of "State Champs" needles UF fans to no end.
