He kicks wildly at the ball and their players was smart to get to the ball first and take the hit.
Just a dumb play by a guy who already doesn't really give us much going forward (imo)

But the Costa Rica guy didn't play the ball. He just stepped his body in front while Arfsten swung at the ball. That's not a penalty for me at all and extremely weak. No chance that's a penalty

It can be reckless by Arfsten and also not a penalty

He steps in to get a touch on the ball and Arfsten is winding up like he is going to kick it out of the stadium. Stupid play by arfsten and a penalty 100 out of 100 times. He never touches the ball because Arfsten kicks him instead

He goes through him more than enough to get that called.

Costa Rica player got himself in the way, that doesn't make it not a pen. And you could make the argument he's shielding the ball.
