The last 2 years with much higher expectations than results, UCLA flamed out in the round of 32 both years in upset losses (last year as a 2 seed and this year as a 4 seed). It was a good time in her career to make a change.

While that is true, the prior head coach led UCLA to 16-0-3 record in 2021 before losing 1-0 to Irvine in the NCAA first round. In 2020 she lost in the second round after a 13-0-3 regular season record.

So, it's not like Margueritte Aozasa was inheriting a roster with recent deep post-season success. Some credit for coaching those players further into the post-season than they'd ever been and to an eventual national championship.

Exactly. Trev's hires of Bucky, Earley, and Anderson haven't set the world on fire, but he's only be graded on if football is successful. Bucky may be good, but you have to change your system to align it with your personnel and he's too stubborn to do that.

Bucky has only been here for a few games so still a ways to go before we are able to judge how things are going.

I'm judging him on his willing to adjust his system. Right now we don't look like we have the athletes for his defense.

He definitely talks a good game, but I'm not seeing his ability to adjust to what his talent does well.

Or you could give the team maybe like a month to learn his system.

I don't know del Conte, but I know Eric Bell. Should it tell us somehing that del Conte passed on Eric Bell and hired the UCLA coach at tu? Or should it tell us something about Bell that he passed (or wasn't contacted) about the tu job?

Man I hope he comes to A&M, but how do you leave a Final 4 team right now?

Interesting hire for Texas for sure. I think she's a good coach but there were some cracks the last few years. Del Conte is swinging big, hope Trev has a good hire lined up to at least match it. That's why I'm concerned when I hear names like Lenard. Unless we're hiring from the pro ranks or someone from US National Teams, Bell should be the lowest level of coach we hire.

Margueritte is a very good coach. Most of the problems she's had in UCLA can be associated with the UC system and their funding of athletics. She was very limited in her budget and the number of scholarships going forward. This move has to do with support to the program, period. I wonder what Mykell (her husband) will be doing - he's currently an assistant at Angel City FC and they have a very young daughter.

I'm still concerned about the player churn that Bell employs at TCU and how much of a problem that will be when interfaced with A&M culture. The idea of bring in a ton of players, choosing a few to keep from each class and then icing out the rest doesn't feel very Aggie-like. And how will that work with our huge increase in fully-funded scholarships? It doesn't have to be done this way. Maybe this was a product of how TCU funded their program? Do you Bell supporters think he would be willing to change or even IF he should be forced to change?

U Washington HC Nicole Van Dyke's name continues to be mentioned in the rumor circles. UW is still playing so maybe there's something to it. Just reporting rumors...
