If G is gone, are we really not going after an elite, proven coach? The camp money is significant and I assume the school is fine with that money going to the coaches. The camps also don't seem to require that much from the head coach (assistants, outside coaches and players do the work). We need to recruit elite, national team level attacking players. And I don't care at all which state they come from. Whoever we hire, it needs to be clear that the expectation is that we are an elite program and that starts with recruiting. If we are fully funded from a scholarship perspective, recruiting should be easy with our facilities. Go get some elite transfers immediately and in the upcoming recruiting classes.

Fair point on revenue share and NIL money, but I still think the attraction of 100% funded scholarships and our facilities should put us ahead of many (most) schools. Tim is certainly a defense first guy, but that is also what he was asked to do here/CBU (and did a good job in my opinion). I spoke to Tim at an event a few months before he took the A&M job. He is impressive to speak with overall, has exceptional soccer knowledge and I think is well liked by his players. I would really just push him on what his recruiting approach will be before he was hired. The list of other names that have been thrown out on this board aren't great in my opinion. Tell me we can get a proven coach from a top program and I am in, but I am not going to get too excited about a 14 year assistant or an unproven P4 coach.

Elko is a "defensive minded coach", even an elite "defensive minded coach". Yet, somehow his offense this year is pretty elite.

Being a head coach responsible for the entirety and an assistant responsible for a part of the entirety are vastly different things.

Trev is not hiring an assistant coach.

Trev has proved he isn't afraid to go after under the radar hires. If the fit is there culturally and the coach is hungry, I don't mind. You can rebuild a program in 1 year now

Coach G did a ton for local youth soccer clubs. I hope he sticks around and continues to help out.

Because he's the Father of the Aggie soccer program. I have a feeling he will leave on his terms. Either retirement or the end of his contract.

Top players are getting scholarships & rev share in big 12....fully funding the program (28 scholarships) helps the back end of the roster recruits, not the top players

I think it is true in any NCAA sport now that players can enter the portal outside of normal portal periods because of a change of head coach although I am not sure about how long they can do so. Perhaps a month or so.

It's open for 30 days from a coaching change.

I imagine we won't hear anything about G until after National Signing Day. Keep the current recruits and get them signed, then he'll "retire" on his own. That way, the cupboard isn't left empty. He can tought how awesome this new class is and all his final words are positive and helping the program and yada yada yada through the end of his reign.

Once the new coach comes in, the whole team, including the new signees, will have the chance to find a new school in the portal (even the January enrollees) or by being released from their NSD docs. The new coach can replace them all with no problems.

That's why my main target would be Eric Bell, but Lenard is legit. She was always in the Elite 8/Sweet 16 in D2 at DBU, which is incredibly hard to recruit to and that has translated to Baylor. I think it's remarkable what's she's done going straight from D2 to Big 12, without that mid-level school like A&M Commerce or Colorado St, in between. I think she'd do big things with the resources and recruiting opps that A&M offers.

Don't underestimate Waldrum. We're talking Randy, not Ben. Won Natty's, won alot at multiple schools in multiple conferences, professional coaching and taken multiple nations to multiple World Cups. Internationally connected also. The only problem I see is his age. That's it.

But Eric Bell is and would be the #1 option if I were hiring. 100% and I'd make him tell me "No" 3 times before I moved to option 2.

Enjoy retirement, G. I hope he stays in College Station and enjoys the fruits of his labor as fan.

Time to go get the next head coach. Looking at what others have said, it sounds like none of us know who it will be and there is no clear frontrunner(s).

End of one era and the beginning of another. Can't wait to see who our next coach will be and the excitement that generates.
