I guess all the refs and VAR staff are here more on a working "vacation" and probably not getting to experience all the love from the American public that all the fans that are here visiting to experience the cup - since they're probably somewhat quarantined to a minimal routine and still believe all the hate they get from the media

Same center ref was on a game earlier in the WC where Messi stepped on a guy's ankle, cleared him, and no card. None. Same center.

In 1994 they all stayed at the hotel on my companies campus for the World Cup. Apparently they had armed guards and gate houses on the campus that every one had to go through every day. We also hosted training conferences for FIFA in 2014 and 2018
