We beat Belgium, even without Balogun. Belgium needed a complete collapse from Senegal. They've looked bad the entire tournament. We are the better team right now, with or without Balogun.

Yeah we'll have to flip the attack and go through the wings off Pepi holding it up vs what we've been doing. Hope we can get that worked out in short time

For those of you that understand soccer better than me. Why is it sometimes a kick with just the goalie and other times with the players standing there?

A foul inside the box is just player and goalie, a foul outside the box close to the goal they make a wall

All I've learned from X is that soccer is a magical sport where all players have superhuman processing speed with full control over their body at all times at any point in space, which means Balogun intended to step on the ankle and deserved the red.

I wish I shared your confidence.

Balogun has been the majority of our offensive threat. Not sure anyone picks up that slack against a good Belgian defense.

Hope Pepi can have the game of his freaking life Monday!

Belgium has barely been able to score goals against worse teams than the USA. They've looked awful in 3 of their 4 games and the one good game they had was against the lowest ranked team according to FIFA.

It won't be easy, but this isn't 2014 Belgium. The USA will have to play well, but they can definitely win

It's not really intent

There are fouls a ref can write in his book for cautioning a player (yellow card) and fouls he can write in his book for sending a player off (red card).

The ref determined this was a serious foul play. That means it endangered another player's safety. Red is the only card you can give if you think it was serious foul play and SFP doesn't have to be "intentional". Another option might have been violent conduct, usually reserved for punches thrown, also can only be a red card. The "caution" option might have been "unsporting behavior" for a wreckless tackle, but on VAR in slo-mo with the studs raking the other player, ref had to see it more serious foul play than unsporting behavior.

Wrong. This team can absolutely beat this Belgian squad. Without Balogun it will be more difficult. But they can absolutely beat them.

It was a giant middle finger to the host country by a ref that was ****ing terrible all game (and for most of his career).

It won't be easy but Belgium has looked bad for most of this tournament. This isn't 2018 Belgium that was talented enough to win the whole thing.

The U.S. can win this game. This is why you hire a manager like Poch. He will need to come up with a game plan to hopefully get us a win without Balogun.
