The Knicks finals videos are much crazier than that.

No chance against Belgium. With Balogun it would've been dicey, without him the US has zero chance. They can't score enough goals to overcome their bad defense

Our bad defense that's coming off a shutout?

In all honesty, Balogun needs to be smarter than that. That probably should have been a yellow, which is not nothing and would have had him walking on eggshells against Belgium and the probable matchup with Spain that could follow. US appeared to have the game under control and don't need to be that aggressive in that moment.

People are tweeting you cant appeal red cards, but this article existed a week before the game says otherwise

They should overturn it on that alone. If used improperly them it's a decision made in error, not necessarily in judgement.

They broke the rules. Now fix it

Belgium's offense has looked pretty anemic apart from the last 45 minutes against a tired Senegal team. US needs to party like it's 1999 US soccer, make sure they are solid defensively and swipe a goal or two off of counters and set pieces. Ending up in penalties would not be a terrible outcome, given the circumstances.

both players were jockeying for position. I don't want our players to be less aggressive because bad officiating might happen.

What did I say that was not true? I even said that the Seattle's video would have been cool. The DC video was a lame "celebration." No one was going crazy which is weird.

The center ref didn't see a serious foul play when it happened. The fourth official had to tell him to look at var because of an obvious mistake or possible red card. The fourth official had to look at it in slo-mo to notify him of that and then the center ref had to look at it in slo-mo to see it. But when you see the studs rake the back of the leg and land on the foot in slo-mo, he couldn't unsee it. He felt compelled to acknowledge serious foul play.

Why did another ref give Messi the Michael Jordan treatment for the same thing? You all know why.

According to this, VAR shouldn't be using slo mo or still images as part of their recommendation.

This just pisses me off more.

But that's the problem. In slow motion in looks bad. In real life it looks and more importantly is 2 guys going for a ball and happen to step in the same place. The Bosnia player steps first and becomes the stepped on player. Messi's no call is in fact much worse than this. Messi was late to the challenge.

We beat Belgium, even without Balogun. Belgium needed a complete collapse from Senegal. They've looked bad the entire tournament. We are the better team right now, with or without Balogun.

I wish I shared your confidence.

Balogun has been the majority of our offensive threat. Not sure anyone picks up that slack against a good Belgian defense.

Hope Pepi can have the game of his freaking life Monday!

I'd play Haji over Pepi. Haji was on a heater for his club and can score. Pepi is more of a poacher, IMO, and we need someone who can create his own chances.

Slow motion was not even appropriate for that moment. Maybe FIFA pulls their head out of their asses and rescinds the red.

There were 4 red cards issued each in the 2022 and 2018 World Cups across all 64 matches.

We got boned as the host country. Absolutely unreal.

Pretty much. I would expect FIFA to extend Balogun's suspension to multiple games before they recend anything.

Per ESPN, according to FIFA sources the one game suspension cannot be appealed. FIFA can extend the suspension beyond one game and that decision can be appealed.

It can't be appeals which is stupid. But FIFA can review it.
