Dang, now the Celtics shipping KP to Atlanta. Atlanta was a team that people thought may want Gafford.
Also the Nets now have 5 picks in the first round tomorrow, including 22, 26, and 27. Maybe that's a team the Mavs could work with to get back in to the draft.

He's been all over the place. He's using actual numbers here instead of just opt in and extend generic language, so may be something to it. For the Mavs sake I was hoping for an opt out and extend that could buy the Mavs some apron space this year.

Woof...on one hand I want to reward Kyrie for being essentially a model player on and off the court but on the other hand giving $39m/year for the next 3yrs to a guy who just tore his ACL in the same knee he already has had 2 surgeries on seems like 'too much.'

Makes sense, plus he's old.
I think a guy like Sexton makes some more sense because he can be an off ball guy when Ky comes back. That's just a really small backcourt

Earlier today I was wondering how I would feel if something like this happened. Still not exactly sure lol.
Considering many thought he'd get even more money than his last deal, him taking less is kinda doing us a solid. It could have been way worse for us.

Problem is Portland had Camara and Deni and are probably drafting Carter Bryant at 11. I don't think they want to do another forward.
They also need to dump Ayton and Rob.
I don't really know what PGs are available right now on the market except Jrue and Sexton and both have their warts. I don't think that Gafford is enough to get you in high enough to draft Fears or Kasparas.

Fears would be worth it, to me, but he's not making it past 8. Probably not worth it for Jakucionis.
PJ is also on his last year, so you have to wonder if we could lose him for nothing next year. He may not want to be here long term if Flagg is going to get in the way of minutes for him.
If Gafford is traded this offseason, I'd love to get PJ's extension done and lock him up as a Mav for another 4 years.

If they want Bryant then PJ doesn't make much sense for them lol. Not even sure Gafford makes sense for them with Clingan. Gafford wants to go somewhere he can start, not be a backup center again.
Ideally, Mavs get one of those Brooklyn firsts for someone like Hardy or Martin, with the Mavs throwing in a second or two, maybe.
I think Clingan needs a few years of development. He is an absolute foul machine right now so he is probably a 25mpg guy. Gaff/Cling rotation would be fantastic, though. I would definitely start Gafford and bring in Clingan.

43 to 36 is pretty good. And he will be just 23% each year.
Ya Gafford isn't worth a lottery pick but I would take PJ straight up over pick 11. Like I know it's never that simple with nba contract situations, but to me, PJ is a guy that every team covets; he's athletic AF, versatile, the fans love him, and he's young. Idk how many guys in this draft would make any roster better than PJ would but it's certainly less than 11.
