David Jones has had a solid couple of games in the summer league. He has played the best of the spurs imo. He has shot near 50% in the two games, and is very active and drives the offense and has some steals on defense. He has shown he can score inside, mid range and has a good spot up three. Just saw he is avreraging 7.5 rebounds also solid for a Wing.
BREAKING: The Clippers, Jazz and Heat have agreed to a trade that sends Norman Powell to Miami, John Collins to Los Angeles, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a 2027 Clippers second-round pick to the Jazz, sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/o0FkV0o2l8

Leaning harder into the tank. I wonder if they move Lauri before the deadline.

I think Lauri's contract is toxic at this point. 19/5.9 last year on 42/34 shooting.
He doesn't create his own shot and makes 30% of the cap. You'd have to give me picks to take him. But lots of overlap with him and Ace.
Would be awesome, but I would imagine we aren't high on his list. I could see him going back to Minnesota or Cleveland since they are both proven contenders. Or maybe back to his hometown Jailblazers.Enzo The Baker said:
Love would be a nice late pick up for us if he gets waived, just for the locker room alone.

He is 37 - he might just retire, too.
The Spurs have officially signed Luke Kornet.

Luke Kornet will wear number 7 the Spurs say.

Interesting on FAs:
Giddey apparently wants 30M/year and Chicago is being cheap.
Grimes has asked for 25M/year and Philly is closer to 15. Philly also has cap issues/apron issues. Grimes is restricted.
No one wants Kuminga.
CP3 wants starter guarantees for his farewell season. No one wants to give it to him.
Boucher is still out there. Love to grab him for our MLE remaining cash.
Cam Thomas has no real value.
Brodie is out there and not sure the Nuggets are bringing him back. Would Minnesota do it since they need a PG?
Marvin Bagley would do a good job of taking up space as 3rd string center, right?
Luke Kornet's deal in San Antonio is descending with a partial guarantee on Year 3 and no guarantee on Year 4, league source says.
— Fred Katz (@FredKatz) July 7, 2025
Here's the breakdown:
2025-26: $11M
2026-27: $10.45M
2027-28: $9.9M ($2.55M gtd)
2028-29: $9.35M (non-gtd)

We cooked on this. Front loaded with partial guarantee in year 3 (year Wemby's extension hits) and team option in year 4.
Makes this insanely tradable.
But we have about 3.1 in MLE room instead of 4.6. Which is fine since we clearly don't intent to get anyone.
And I think they could have gotten a huge package for him when he was a 18M/year guy.AggieEP said:
Crazy how much his stock has fallen in 2 years. He was a 50/40 shooter two years ago on a reasonable deal. Now he's a 42/34 shooter on an albatross of a deal. Missed opportunity for the Jazz to flip him while he was at peak value.
With Kornet earning ~$11 million, the Spurs are $12.2 million below the tax.
— Paul Garcia (@PaulGarciaNBA) July 7, 2025
They're $20.3 million under the 1st aporn (hard capped).
They have $3.1 million of their NTMLE and $5.1 million of the BAE to sign free agents or acquire players in trades.

Did Luke Kornet just become my favorite spur?
Both if they can afford it. Their only real PG is Kevin Porter Jr, who is more of a SG. Start Paul and use him off ball with Giannis a lot, but the Paul/Giannis PnR should be amazing. Use Brodie as a 6th man.Quote:
CP3 or Westbrook to Milwaukee?

David Jones once offered me some Chick FilA nuggets he wasn't going to eat. Told me he could get me more if I wanted. I thanked him, but declined.
I know that story is incredibly lame, but given the success he's having in the California SL, this may be the only time people will know who he is, and my only chance to tell it.
Am told we should expect to see Dylan Harper in game 1 in Las Vegas vs. Philadelphia. Will play in a few, not all.
