That can only work if 1/3 of the Twins cash ($11 M) applies to the prorated amount remaining for Correa this year, which would literally make him a wash for this season and then 22-23 M the next two years.

Sanchez and Urias should add about 2.5 M total.

Staying under the CBT and not giving up a top prospect for CC is a win.

I just realized I get to go to Baltimore in a few weeks to watch our Astros play what's left of the Orioles

If Yordan and Jake come back and two of Arrighetti/CJ/Garcia/France come back healthy and pitch as expected - A

The remaining hole at 3B is plugged, we get a good split RF for Cam and a utility hitter better than any AAA/street FA we have.

If Yordan and Jake don't come back, B-

If none of the pitchers come back, B-

If none of the players out come back, nothing really got fixed. D

Replaced Paredes, getting rid of Hummel and Short regardless, that's higher than a D

If Yordan and Jake don't come back and none of the returning pitchers come back, you have Framber, HB and who again starting, playing CF and DH? One hole at 3B got filled. That's really it.

That's the nightmare scenario. None of the players come back. That option needed Cease and Castro (or its equivalent).

So we got Correa back for cheaper than it was to re-sign him after 2021

kudos to the posters who said the Twins were making a big mistake 3 years ago

We perfectly addressed the 3B situation, added some INF depth (bye Short and Whitcomb), and landed the lefty handed bat we needed so badly. We got them all for multiple years and gave up very very little. AND stayed under the tax. Dana MF Brown is man. He's earned a spot up there with Click and Jeff.

You are going to get at least a couple of pitchers back, even if not all of them.

Lineup wise, you have some length now even without Yordan and Meyers.

C and DH Diaz and Caratini
1B Walker
2B/LF Altuve
3B Correa
SS Peña
LF Sanchez/2B Urias
CF Trammel or Melton/Dubob
RF Smith

Not super sexy, but sneaky length if you play platoons right.

Yeah this deadline was great by him. Reminds me a lot of our 2022 deadline where we pretty much picked 3 issues and addressed each of them with a smart move and no over pay

I'm still shocked at how little prospect capital we gave up. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the offseason with Parades coming back. If all of the twins money is hitting this year, then it'll make it hard to bring anybody in during free agency.

If that nightmare scenario happens we aren't making it to the ALCS. It sounds like San Diego asked a LOT for a 2 month rental and we said no. At some point we have to stop giving away our best prospects.

Curious how the payroll is looking for next year after taking on CC's contract. Guessing Caratini may not be an option now.

the $20 MM freed up after the season (from Jose Abreu coming off the books) basically went to Correa for the 2026 season

payroll will be tight in the offseason with Yordan and Javier getting sizable raises

The lineup for the Red Sox series should be game changing.

Add Correa, Pena, and Sanchez

At the very least we will be competent again. And adding Yordan/Meyers potentially later on will be icing on the cake for a very decent lineup.

Imagine how lethal we would be if Walker and Diaz played to their potential?

I agree we get the arms back too. And they are effective. It's why Dana didn't pay the price for Cease or any other pitcher.

But the grade was "if nobody comes back".

I'll keep my fingers crossed Yordan learns to play through pain. Or shoots up.

Seems like San Diego wasn't too serious about moving Cease unless they could refill the farm. Eff those turds.
