That's a good summary. I don't think I could have fed this to chat and got any better than this

Cliff Clavin's buffalo theory. I'm feeling very smart right now...
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

And am I the only one that refers to him to my other friends as "I've got a friend that's well connected inside" instead of a random texags poster?!

People ask way less questions if I just refer to TexAgs as "a guy I know"

Same.

How could they not at this point? They lost 40% of their roster in a day.

I feel their pain even if ours was a slower degradation. I'd say they just need to find a way, but that's more of an Astros thing.

I call him "my inside source" which angers a friend of mine who works for the Chronicle, who demands who he is and I say, "hell if I know."

Will Carlos be in a lineup tonight? I don't know the logistics behind travel when you get traded the day before.

Chandler Rome suggested the team could actually consider selling high on Pena this offseason to rebuild the farm. This deadline was so exciting but also intriguing to think about what the front office will do this offseason to continue to build for now and the future.

Just please don't sign any players with a qualifying offer

I'd hate that. He's got two more years after this so if you're not going to extend him then I'd rather get 2026 out of him and then do what you did with Tucker and trade him before his contract year.

He'd get a lot even for one year like Tucker did given he's a shortstop

My sister and her husband are stuck in Austin with a bunch of Astro fans. Their SWA flight to Boston got canceled yesterday and they wont have a flight till late this afternoon. They flew out of Hobby yesterday morning.

Cue Ray Kinsella and Terrance Mann picking up a hitchhiking Carlos ...

CARLOS
Thanks. You're the first car by. I
didn't expect to get a lift so soon.
Ray starts the car back onto the highway.

RAY
How far are you going?

CARLOS
How far are you going?

RAY
Boston.
CARLOS
Well, if it's okay with you, I'll ride
along to Fenway Park. I play baseball.

Ray and Mann exchange brief smiles.

CARLOS
I'm looking for a place to play, and I
heard that all through America,
towns have teams, and in some places
they'll find you a day job so you can
play ball nights and weekends. But in other places,
you can make $30 million a year, even if you're not hitting that well.

RAY
This is your lucky day, kid. We're
going someplace kind of like that.

CARLOS
All right!

RAY
I'm Ray Kinsella, this is Terry Mann.

CARLOS
Hi. I'm Carlos Correa.I can buy and sell both of you without
putting a dent in my annual salary.
Mann and Ray just look at each other.
And the little Datsun heads off down the highway.

The problem with trading Pena is it puts Carlos back at SS which he's been clear that he's tried to move of. If Isaac is so awful at second, it might make more sense to have him try out left field. With Carlos health issues, we need as much depth as possible.

I obviously don't understand baseball contracts, and I haven't read through most of the posts so maybe this has already been discussed - but why were the Astros able to get Correa plus cash for a minor league player?

Correa was only going to waive his no Trade Clause for the good guys. Twins needed to dump cash bigly.

Minnesota is going into a complete rebuild. Knocking it down to the studs. It just timed out perfect, but no one saw it being this easy.

This is still my favorite Correa moment. Biased because I was there but it was the first pitch of the inning, I had gone down to the bathroom and just happened to sit back down as he hit it. That game was so massive after losing game 1 of that series so badly.

In fact it might be my favorite Correa game. RBI double early, amazing play to get the runner at home off an Altuve error and then the walk off

Incredible. How does his contract now compare to what he wanted when he left (and we didn't re-sign him)?

My favorite is the walkoff double vs the Yanks in Game 2 of the ALCS that score Altuve - 2 incredible young players, huge gamble sending Altuve, Judge having no idea Altuve was going to try and score so he throws it to second, Verlander pitched the whole game, and it started Gary Sanchez's campaign for ALCS MVP when he somehow dropped the ball. if you're ever bored, type "Gary Sanchez Astros" into Google and the vitriol about him from NY fans about that play is everywhere.

That is my second favorite (3rd being his WS game 5 pop up turned homer). Such a fun time on the video you posted because it was so foreign to us to be up 2-0 in an LCS especially against the Yanks.

We're basically getting him for 3/75 rather than 6/180 (I think)

I took my wife family (father, mother & sister in law) to the Astros game on Wednesday for my father-in-law birthday. In laws love the Astros and watch every game on tv. I wore my Carlos Correa #1 orange jersey. My MIL gave me grief about wearing it the entire time, so yesterday was fun.

Glad that my 3rd favorite Astros is back on the team. (Altuve #1, Biggio #2, Correa #3)

but a heavy dose of the Atlantic Seaboard starts tonight

Astros Bingo Update 8-1-25
Spreadsheet Link

Only 3 games in the Majors last night, so a brief update. Although I highly advised clicking the Reds-Braves highlights after they each scored 8 runs in the same inning. Montero has been so bad for Atlanta lately that he didn't pitch in a 12-11 game.

Carlos Correa's last game at Fenway with the Astros? Game 5 of the 2021 ALCS won by the good guys 9-1. Only Altuve is left (and healthy) from that lineup, along with Framber. And next weekend it's Astros at Yankees. That should be magnificent and oh, so triggering for their fans when he runs back out there.

Only real Bingo news is that Arlington lost, meaning it now has to go 30-22 while the Astros go 25-28 to get to 87-75.

Cal Raleigh hit his 42nd HR, on pace for 62. He's up 4 homers over second-place Ohtani.

The new Bingo Standings with 2-ish months to go are below. In a perfect world, Marvin and I would finish tied for first and Venmo each other $50. When we get to September, I'll put together a mini-playoff format Bingo Bonus game for the whole playoffs, not just the Stros.

Our squares most likely to activate in August:
Hader 35+ save (at 28)
George Springer 20+ HR (at 18)
Mike Trout 100+ games (at 82)

Four people looked like they were on easy street picking Judge 55+ HR but not so much anymore as he is on the DL.
In the next couple of weeks, going to be exxxing out Yordan's RBI and HR totals. I'd like to think he can come back and hit 32 HR and drive in 72 RBI in two months, but probably not

I was at that CC walk-off game and sitting in section like 129 or 130 in the corner near RF. It was absolutely electric! I have video of it somewhere I'll see if I can find and post again.

Just a reminder we were told we didn't have the prospects to make any moves yet we pulled Correa, Sanchez, and Urias and only had to part with ONE of our top 30 prospects (Jaworsky #13) plus Gusto at likely the highest trade value he'll ever have in his career.

This is mine as well, but mostly because I was there with my kid. JV and Sev both pitched pretty well. CC had the walkoff but also the solo shot earlier in the 4th. Just an amazing to experience in person.
