You know that isn't how this works...we are going to sweep Boston and NY and get swept by Miami.

imagine you’re a 26 year old with a 7.6 ERA in high-A contemplating whether or not you should hang up the cleats and then you get traded straight up for Carlos Correa https://t.co/UwPyFLy93f

I hope it was because Arrighetti was working on different things last night and and not an indicator that there's an issue, but he didn't exactly set the world on fire versus the Tacoma Raniers.
Walked 4, gave up 2 monster bombs, and topped out at 90 on the gun (although lots of speed variation ranging from low 70s to 90).
Hopefully he's going to have another start or 2 at SL to sharpen up a bit.

Statcast shows he topped out at 94.0 with an average 91.5 last night. That is still quite a bit down from where he was this year - 93.7 avg.

I've mentioned this before but it's worth repeating - don't pay close attention to the stat line on rehab starts.
The only thing the player and team are worried about is the workload getting ramped up and that they feel good physically. They don't approach the starts the same way they would a typical MLB start.
Today the #Rangers reportedly acquired RHP Merrill Kelly ($4.8M surplus trade value) from the #DBacks in exchange for LHPs Kohl Drake ($7.8M) and Mitch Bratt ($2.9M) and RHP Dave Hagaman ($2.8M) ($13.5M total)

The deal is rejected by our model as an overpay by Texas.

I guess mostly because I think he's worse at LF than at 2B.

I don't get why they paid so much for a rental #3. It makes sense why so few starters were moved with the prices teams were asking.

Odd move for sure
I'm guessing since they couldn't land a bat they just figured if the offense is gonna blow we need to make sure no one scores. The 2005 Astros model.
While there is nothing necessarily wrong with that approach I'm not sure it was worth it given their spot in the standings. Seems like those resources could've gone somewhere else. Almost seems like doing a deal just do a deal.

I'd expect a little regression to the mean for Eovaldi as well. He is having one of the best seasons of his career, but it will be hard to keep that pace up.

Getting CC back was a great move, but I think the best move may have been a non-move. Good on Dana for not giving in to those insane demands for Cease.
The best move is ending / limiting Altuve in LF.
Honest question. Why? He was the worst starting 2B in the league last year defensively. Why is there the clamoring to move him back there? Yeah he is no great shakes at LF either, but I would prefer to see Dubon at 2B and Altuve LF/DH at least until Yordan gets back. Have Sanchez in LF against RHP and let Altuve play LF against LHP.
Agreed, while Altuve is bad in LF, he is now a terrible defensive 2B and has far less defensive impact on the game in LF versus 2B, so Astros are better off with bad Altuve LF versus terrible Altuve 2B.

Did we ever find out if the MN money for Correa's contract is front loaded to keep us under the cap this year? Would make a big difference in what we get from losing Framber if we can stay under the cap this season.

this will be something to keep an eye on
will removing Altuve in the 8th or 9th inning for defense become automatic for Espada?
with Urias and Dubon, he could do that every game now -- have to be careful

Hey guys - something cool going on right now.
My nephew's little league all-star team is in the regional tournament for the chance to go to Williamsport. They are representing Texas East. Their little league is Lamar.
Today is their first game, and they are actually playing right now.
My nephew is currently on the mound pitching.
They are showing these games in ESPN+
