⚾Offense (MLB Rank)
.257 BA (5th)
.319 OBP (10)
144 runs (T-15)
.408 SLG (16)
⚾️- the point I keep making on #TheATeam - plenty of baserunners (singles & walks!), but so little slug, thus so few runs
🧢Pitching
4.27 ERA (16)
1.27 WHIP (16)

Two words that we are terrible at…situational hitting. We don't bunt strategically, we don't steal bases enough, we don't hit behind runners, we don't hit sac flies. We swing for the fences and pound the ball into the ground right at the shortstop when we have runners on base. We get plenty of hits and have plenty of baserunners, but we have an absolutely braindead set of hitters when it comes to what to do with runners on base ahead of them.
Also, the pitching has fallen off a cliff. Good pitching made up for a lot of the offensive issues up to this point.
I wanted an arm badly - some on here strongly disagreed and I understand because there was a big need for bats as well.
Spencer should be fine once he gets ramped back up - that's a plus.
I have no faith in Luis Garcia. He's extremely out of shape. The organization is managing their expectations here as well. Edit to add: I know before the injury the team had planned on transitioning him into a high leverage bullpen arm. They think his stuff could be elite out of the bullpen. I'm not sure if that's still the plan, but I believe it is.
Javier could turn out just fine but will need time to get ramped back up. He looked bad his last rehab start but I'm not too concerned yet. It's just going to take time - the concern isn't "if" but "when" as far as him contributing.
LMJ is LMJ. I personally think his days as a legitimate contributor are behind him.
I think you'll take anything you can get from JP France.

some consolation...
for the Astros (62-50) to miss the playoffs entirely...
one among the Rangers (58-55), Guardians (56-55), and Royals (56-56) will have to surge past them

one thing not comforting...
the Astros have a losing record vs. their division
16-17 vs. the AL West
very un-Astro like during the golden era
the month of September is heavy on the Angels, A's, Mariners, and Rangers

Well when the hitters that come up in scoreable situations are Altuve, Walker, Diz, or AAA players, you are more likely to pop up, strike out, or GIDP than to do anything remotely productive. Hate lumping Altuve in there, but he makes some absolutely terrible swings way too often.
The Astros have added AJ Blubaugh to the taxi squad. He is with the team in Miami, per @Chandler_Rome

Isaac Paredes received a PRP injection on his right hamstring and is going to rehab in an attempt to return this season, Astros GM Dana Brown said. Surgery was on the table for Paredes, Brown said, but Paredes chose to rehab the injury instead.

The surgery would carry a recovery time of “six months plus,” GM Dana Brown said. https://t.co/sb7mMHbE6V

Why though... Just have the surgery and be ready next year

Is the "offsite facility" Lance's back yard?

Let's set the O/U on pitchers returning and performing at a level better than who they replace. The group includes Arrighetti, Dubin, France, Garcia, Javier, McCullers, and Walter.
I'll say 2.5- do you take the over or under?
