Great news, guys! This is the last weekend without college football.

At least we'll have a nice distraction... or more frustration, lol.

I actually have more faith in Aggie football this fall than the Astros right now

You have more faith in a team who's done nothing but disappoint the last several decades than a team who's last 8 years have been one of the best runs in baseball and despite the suckage today is still in first place?

Don't people always have more optimism before a season starts? It was a half joking comment because I am notorious for having too much faith in Aggie sports for my own good.

If you were to ask me which is more likely, a 10 win Aggie football team (9-3 plus a bowl win would count) or an Astros World Series this season I would probably say the Aggies and 10 wins

Hopefully both happen! But it's hard for me to see this team right now with the injuries and bullpen situation winning a World Series

This was a team mailing in a series if I ever saw it.

Need to get Melton and Trammell out of the lineup and that happens with Yordan and Jake returning.

Bullpen woes should be addressed with return of McCullerd, Garcia, Walter, and France.

Relative to injuries this team has overachieved this season greatly.

No way Joe gets fired simply due to all the injuries

I don't know

Dana got Joe 3 new players at the trade deadline

the Astros are 7-8 since the deadline

Dana is not going to take the fall for this season

Espada may be coaching for his job in the wildcard series

Other than a moral victory because Aggie football has been hot garbage, a 10 win season is not a good comparison for a World Series. A 10 win season is more comparable to making the playoffs.

And which of those do you think is more likely to happen this year.

this is not a controversial statement in the least bit considering double digit college football teams win 10+ games every year, while only one team wins the World Series. The fact that A&M winning 10 games equates in your mind to the Astros winning the World Series tells you everything you need to know about our mediocre football program.

Not sure what your point is.

No way. He is been without his best hitters and some pitchers. I hate some of his decisions but crazy to think they are leading the division with so many injuries. Then again crane let a gm who won a ws walk

I get that my argument was not a one to one comparison… I have a different standard for the Astros that I do for Aggie football. So to me a good season looks totally different for each of them. The Aggies have had one 10 one season in football since 1998… So to me a 10 win season would be an amazing year for them (best year since 2012 in a non-covid season)

The Astros on the other hand have made it to four World Series in eight years and 7 ALCS… So that is the standard for this organization.

It's not an apple to apple's comparison. But what I believe to be a good Astro season looks totally different than what a good Aggie football season would be.

It's not that deep… It's just fan talk… Let's move on

yes, Click and Dusty probably thought a world series title would give each of them some extra time

but Crane thought otherwise

On the bright side Yordan is actually going to play in a game in public this week

Meyers to follow soon

Garcia and McCullerd sounds like they'll be back this week

Got a seven day, seven game road trip for this team to get its shtt together (for some players, literally).

Monday next week is a home off day, whatever the F happened last Thursday hope it doesn't happen again.

At this point I'm just hoping to win one in Detroit and split with Baltimore

A month ago espada was in the running for manager of the year, now he's on the hot seat?

A month can make a big difference. Just look at Aggie Football September-October vs. November 2024.

Espada will be evaluated for his performance over the past 2 seasons -- not just 2025

getting bounced in the wildcard round in back-to-back seasons would not be good

I get it, especially after the hot start and current slump, but heading into today his OPS+ is 142, he's stolen 25 bases in 27 attempts, his bWAR is 4.4, and he has more walks (78) than strikeouts (76).

Try having Walker as your big addition to start the season Cubs fans. And we don't even boo the guy despite him bringing negative value above replacement by bWAR and sporting an OPS+ of 91 to Tucker's 142.

Just getting this team to the WC round may win him manager of the year.

But yeah he's gonna get canned.

You should call 790 with this hot take.

What I don't understand are the blowout losses at home.

6 of them by double digits.

I understand one or two happen … but how do you get beat 6 times by double digits at home, and 4 of them are against teams that will finish below .500

As a big Ranger fan I can tell you he's fading fast in the second half just like he did last year. Hopefully he pulls it together this week.

Sanchez is a monster though.

Our team is playing like ass right now.

But it kind of is what it is.

They are going to have to figure out like the way they figured it out with all the AAA guys in the lineup.

It's frustrating as fans. It has to be even more frustrating for the players, losing games to teams you should beat.

Hopefully, Yordan will give this offense a shot in the arm. They desperately need some slug.

Dubin needs to go back to AAA to figure things out. Weems needs to be gone. The bullpen without Hader is a wreck.

I'm optimistic they can play better ball. It's just a tough slog right now with so much in flux.

Yordan actually going on a rehab stint is huge. Sounds like Jake is not far behind.

Pitching wise Garcia, McCullerd, and France have already been on rehab stints and presumably are about to return.

This team being where it is given having lost 3/5ths of its starting rotation is a miracle.

Plenty of reason to be optimistic.
Ags #1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would agree except we have no idea what Yordan will be able to bring to the table and Jake will be rusty. Pitchers will for sure help the pen
tjack16
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If Yordan plays like he's capable then it's a game changer. We just need guys like Carlos, Jose, Yainer and Walker to keep hitting. Getting Yordan back means nothing if the others guys dip in production.

It'll take everybody over the next 35+ games. Need to get to that 90 win mark to feel safely in the playoffs
BadAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Meyers has been out what, a month? I'm sure the rust will be gone quickly

Yordan's presence in the lineup should benefit the rest.

Javier's return gives plenty of reason to think Luis can successfully return

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Does anyone think Yordan is going to even approach Yordan standards when/if he returns?
Because he was terrible at the beginning of the year while supposedly healthy.

I just cant wrap my head around the team's "swing at everything" collective approach to hitting. Only Caratini and Paredes seem capable of working a count.

Jake has been out almost 6 weeks. July 6 was the injury.
