Rivalries would need to be preserved as much as possible. AL teams should stay in the AL and NL teams should stay in the NL as much as possible. I've seen suggested realignments that turn things into a free-for-all.

I don't like that.

The extra innings rule sucks. The pitch clock is meh (is it contributing to more injuries?). 3-game WC series is no-good -- there's too much chance in a 3-game series -- it needs to be 5.

If Manfred really wanted to help the sport -- get rid of the blackouts!

I love putting the Rockies and Las Vegas A's in division called the "Pacific Coast" and 3 coastal teams in the
'West", while KC and StL are in the "Southwest".

Should call the Astros/Royals/Rangers/Cards the Central, the Dodgers/DBacks/Padres/Angels the Southwest, and the Rockies/Giants/Mariners/As the Northwest.

I absolutely despise leagues that talk about realigning geographically, then put teams in groupings that make no sense and assign names that don't match the geographic locations at all.

Preserve my ASS.

Move the Brewers back to the AL then. Move the Astros back to the NL.

The way that whole thing went down was dirty.

MLB does not give a **** about rivalries and preserving leagues.

CA going to 4 teams when the A's leave is a start -- 5 was always freaking nuts -- but they still need to lose another. The southeast definitely needs another team or two.

Sooooo, Nashville and Charlotte? There's going to be some butthurt Mormons and Portland hippies.

I love it. Keep MLB normal.

The only rivalries that he gives a **** about would be NY/BOS and SF/LA. Maybe Cubs/Cards.

Spot on about the blackouts, still makes no sense to me especially in todays age.

If you are not going to radically realign but have four divisions per league, do this:

AL WEST
1. Mariners
2. Vegas As
3. Angels
4. Rockies

AL SOUTH
1. Astros
2. Rangers
3. Royals
4. Nashville (expansion)

AL NORTH
1. Twins
2. White Sox
3. Tigers
4. Indians

AL EAST
1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Orioles
4. Blue Jays

NL WEST
1. Dodgers
2. Giants
3. Padres
4. D'Backs

NL NORTH
1. Cubs
2. Cards
3. Brewers
4. Reds

NL SOUTH
1. Braves
2. Charlotte (expansion)
3. Rays
4. Miami

NL EAST
1. Mets
2. Phillies
3. Pirates
4. Nationals

If Portland is an expansion team, then that team would need to go to the AL WEST. The Rockies would go to AL SOUTH.

This keeps old rivalries of NYY/BOS, BOS/BAL, Cubs/Cards, Cards/Reds, Mets/Phillies, SF/LAD, LAD/SD, Astros/Rangers intact.

It also doesn't have teams that are in the same cities or areas playing in the same divisions.

I would expect SLC and EITHER Nashville or Charlotte. They're not going to add two teams in Braves country and neglect the fact that the Rockies cover everything between the Midwest and California.

A story came out a month ago that MLB views Salt Lake as the strongest expansion option. They have stadium land, a well-funded ownership coalition, community support, and an available market.

Nashville was said to be the second strongest.

I think there is a group in Austin trying to get a club there as well.

That would be weird to say the least. New team for me to hate.

I wouldn't hate the idea. No more west coast starts? Sign me up. (This thought was very flawed). Work to do though. Mid Atlantic division would be nothing but tomato cans. No way that winner should auto make playoffs

Then the SLC team would go in the AL WEST, Rockies would go to AL SOUTH and Charlotte or Nashville to AL EAST.

I just dont see SLC being able to support a baseball team like Nashville or Charlotte can. Utah isnt baseball rich at all......
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

I edited to add but MLB sees them as the strongest option. My money would be on SLC and Nashville being the two cities added.

I get it..... I have a plant in SLC and have been multiple times.... I just dont see the passion for baseball. But MLB has invested far more into that research than me

Good news, everyone: According to the MLB Facebook ad that showed up on my feed this morning, Jose Abreu jerseys are still available! Get 'em while they're hot!

I couldn't believe they were still selling Bregman not-so-quality jerseys for $50 at the team store this weekend.

I want the old NL West back
Astros
Braves
Reds
Giants
Dodgers
Padres

back when men were men.

Agreed on the blackouts. Agree on the extra innings rule.

Thought I would hate the pitch clock, but I love it. I think it's a great improvement to the game. I cannot be more glad there are no more 3.5-4 hr games on a week night for a 7:10pm start.

I don't care a lot about the 3-game WC series. Sure, there is a lot of chance in that series, but the best team doesn't win often anyway.

There was a good convo on this topic by Sean on 790 this morning. That was a big blow to the lineup. Need a power bat so I am praying to Jobu that Yordan can play through the pain and bridge the gap

It's because of the XBH - he's one of the only guys hitting a lot of XBH on a team with a lot of guys who hit singles.

15 2B and 19 HR. He's still second in HR on the team and he's been out weeks.

Hopefully Yordan can come in and start doing something to pick up that slack, but I'm currently at a wait to see it to believe it stage with Yordan coming back at all.

Altuve has been good with the long ball, but he doesn't hit doubles like he used to. Dubon has the same number (18), in 207 less PAs. Even Walker has 20.

Last season Jose had 31. I guess he's purposely trying to hit HRs rather than driving the ball to gaps since he's already surpassed last season's HR total.

My thoughts on this:

1. Tucker is absolutely sabotaging himself out of millions of dollars by laying an enormous egg in a contract year
2. If Paredes, Wesneski and Cam can stay relatively healthy moving forward, this trade is going to end up being an absolute fleece job by Dana

So far not so good on the "staying healthy" front there...

100%. Which is why I put "moving forward" as the qualifier in that sentence

It'll be interesting to see what the Cubs do. They will obviously try to re-sign Tucker, but not for near what he wants or thinks he deserves unless he turns it around. And I think, no matter how the season turns out for Tucker the rest of the way, SF will easily be the highest bidder this offseason for him. But can the Cubs allow themselves to get outbid after what they gave up for him?
