He'll be 31 in December, so expect a Springer-like contract, with a higher average annual value.

It was only a 2-year deal. I'm sure both sides knew it was going to be a one-year deal.

Since we currently don't have a place for all of the infielders we have, I doubt we sign more.

Pretty similar numbers to the 2024 Mariners. They went 70-15 when scoring 4 or more runs. 85-77 final record. Finished a game out of the WC

Of course they also fired their hitting coaches and head coach that season

One of the regulars needs to start the offseason thread. Put this season to bed already.

On to bigger and better seasons ahead!

We had the fourth highest winning percentage when scoring three runs or less (which just goes to show that all of baseball sucks in such games. Our issue was that we also had the fourth highest number of such games, which should come as no surprise.

We also had the highest team batting average in games scoring three or fewer runs, which should also come as no surprise, considering our struggles with RISP.

Nothing really new. Dana wanted the offense to see more pitches and swing less outside the zone, yet we were one of the worst offenses in MLB in both regards. The hitting coaches are the obvious target and easiest scapegoat (for the record, I think we need a new voice). What is interesting is the list of guys who were bad in this regard. CW and Yainer are two you could try to move on from but Pena was also very poor in that regard. When you consider the logjam in the infield, Pena seems like a potential sell high candidate (my thoughts, he mentions CW who will net you nothing and likely require eating salary).

He also indicated Sanchez as a trade candidate ass well as one of Dubon or Urias. Dubon is also on the free swinging list so he would be gone for me (specifically if you keep Pena and Correa so don't need a utility who can play SS). Sanchez I don't get. We need lefty bats. Maybe get him to work at 1B to get CW down to 120 games a year.

Been curious how much Altuve influences the younger guys with this approach at the plate and if the hitting coaches attempted but failed to "correct" that influence.

Season marked by historically bad number of injuries and some bad play and yet still a handful of games away from yet another postseason.

Gotta lock up Miller and Murphy, pitching coaches are part of reason this team will contend moving forward.

Offensive woes obviously attributable to lack of plate discipline and working counts.

Looking forward to full season of Paredes and Yordan.

I'm not opposed to them, but only if the TEAM can have a similar deal. My dad always said there should be a base pay that increases with service time, then loads of incentive based pay. I think that's why he liked golf so much. You do well, you get paid well.

I wonder what the Astros ended up hitting with RISP? Sorry if this was already discussed.

Doesn't seem like it could be above the Mendoza line.
