Put a metal post 6" outside the plate opposite the batter and let him swing away at anything he thinks is a strike. After letting the ringing stop in their hands after swinging at sliders out there for the 10th or 15th time and hitting that post instead, maybe they will start thinking twice about reaching out and trying to pull those pitches. If they were swinging to slap them into right field it would be different, but we insist on trying to pull those kinds of pitches.linkdude said:

Our team ISO (SLG minus BA, a more direct measure of power) was 17th in the league. Our high BA buoyed both our OBP and SLG. We didn't have a bad offense, just one that relied on getting base hits. We didn't walk much (27th in BB/game). I'm hopeful the walks will tick up but we'll see how much the additions affect our power output.
Why do you guys keep tempting me?!

I'm personally hoping for a split and then beating San Fran 2/3

They got rid of Pat Hoberg. Best umpire in the league.
They got rid of Angel Hernandez. Worst in the league.
We're left with the guys in the middle. Bring on robo umps.

Nestor Cortes back in Yankee stadium. Three pitches, 3 home runs.
This is the first time a team has hit home runs on the first three pitches they saw since pitch counts have been tracked (1988) https://t.co/fVxL9SUcsO

That will end Nestor Cortes' Brewers debut. Five home runs allowed, seven on the board for the Yankees.

“Hopefully we can make it tough on him today, and then he can go off and have a good season,” Aaron Boone said.
Aaron Judge has a three-homer game, including a grand slam. The Yankees have tied a franchise record with eight homers today ... and it's only the fourth inning.

Mon: Ronel Blanco
Tue: Hayden Wesneski
Wed: Framber Valdez
The Astros are the only team in MLB that has yet to get an extra-base hit. This is the first time in club history they haven't had an extra-base hit in either of their first two games of any season.

I dont like Judge, but he's got a shot at a 4 HR, 10 RBI game today.
Yankees just hit their 9th home run of the game to go up 20-6 in the 7th.
Judge is 4 for 5 with 3 HR and 8 RBi.
Don't read too much into this. The plan is/was always to get Altuve an occasional start at second base to let Yordan Alvarez play left field and free the DH spot.

Michael Kay explains that the Yankees made new bats "where they moved a lot of the wood into the label so the harder part of the bat is going to strike the ball."
