The crazy thing about the trade deadline is it is ALL about overpaying. Teams in the hunt sacrifice the future to win now, and teams out of the playoff chase play them against each other to maximize the value of their few pieces.

That's what makes what Crane and Brown did today so incredible. We filled a ton of holes and lost so little.

Boots on the ground say the Correa's are already making a sizable dent in their packing. They have always kept a home in Houston so the transition is going to be pretty seamless.

Rather impressive pulling two controllable major league players for Gusto and three lesser prospects.

Dana got the left handed bat he coveted in Sanchez who rakes against righty pitching.

Urias a proven major league player, definitely more productive than any of the AAAA infielders they've been trotting out all season.

No more shtty lineups, amen.

Money isn't an issue but it means we get worse draft compensation for Framber (4th rounder instead of 2nd) but bigger impact is if we sign a guy with a qualifying offer like Walker we get drilled with loss of 2nd and 5th highest pick plus lose $1M of roughly $6.4M in international free agency money. We want to avoid that at all cost.

In theory our "average" lineup with our pitching should secure us a bye, especially with our easy schedule. That being said, nothing comes easy and nothing is guaranteed except death and ****ing taxes.

I was surprised to see that Carlos has not played a single inning at third (or any position other than shortstop) in his professional career.

I don't think it's gonna be a problem, but I assumed he had played there at least a game or two for the Twins or in the minors.

Now we're down to CF with whatever rotation of Trammell/Melton/Chas firmly ensconced in the 9 hole until Jake returns.

McCormick is just lost, nothing new, with Jake locking that down and Melton knocking at the door Chas seems on his way out. Not surprised they couldn't find a taker even with an arb year left.
