the Astros lead the season series 2 games to 1
if the Tigers win 2 of 3...and the season series ends tied at 3
then intradivision record decides the tiebreaker
the Tigers are 24-13 inside their division, while the Astros are 16-17

Really like the idea of starters in the pen giving you multi inning flexibility though starting and relief are two different animals
But with no clear setup man at the moment going to have to think outside the box

Mariners lose
Still 1.5 up
If we would have swept the O's like we should have we'd be 3.5 up but the way we're playing up 1.5 is a minor miracle, hell a MAJOR miracle.

The stats are somewhat meaningless in that we haven't had our "real" lineup in awhile. You can only rely on AAA scrubs for so long. If we don't get a healthy Yordan back this team is dead in the water. Meyers is obviously less critical but also moves the needle some.tjack16 said:
Astros offensive stats
AVG: 3rd
OPS: 13th
Runs: 21st
Walks: 25th
HR: 17th
Not much room for error for the pitching staff and defense with those numbers. Lack of power and extra base hits (with RISP) to me is where I've been the most frustrated and the numbers show it.

Not nearly as significant as our losses but they also have a top 5 farm in the game. We do not. People love to point out that we creat MLB players with a poor farm as if that means those rankings are meaningless but I think we've found out quite clearly they do matter, at least as it pertains to bats.W said:
the Astros are not the only team that has suffered injuries to their lineup
the Red Sox traded away Devers and lost Bregman for 45 games...4th in runs scored

Astro Pitching Lab is the reason the team has been able to make it to this point, with credit to Pena and Paredes.
Until Dana's drafting starts to pay off, strategically the Astros could eventually deal off some of their excess starters they've developed.

The problem is that the West is way more spread out than the East, which makes it challenging .
Probably would get something like:
Rangers
Astros
Diamondbacks
Rockies
I wish we could get:
Rangers
Astros
Cardinals
Royals
Here are Jim Bowden proposed realignment
