Where are all the Yordan **** talkers at tonight? Dude was playing with a broken hand, while this board pissed all over him. When healthy (even my dad knocks his ability here) he's a top three MLB hitter.

Maybe I haven't payed close enough attention, but I've never seen an Astros fan on here (or in real) life say anything bad about Yordan. Do those people really exist?

It was horrible at points -- people saying things like "trade him" or "he's trash", etc.

I do really really want to trade him. He's a great hitter, but he's never healthy. It's not like he's somehow not going to go on the injured list again.

ETA: He's also going to start making non-negligible money for his production. He's only making $15.7 million this year (and we're not going to get our money's worth unless he goes absolutely nuclear the rest of the season) and we're on the hook for $27 million a year for the next 3 seasons. It's going to be really tough to be competitive if that much of the payroll is going to a guy who has 200 AB's a year.

12 game season. Will my batting average be higher or lower than Jose Abreu's average as an Astro?

Formally request that texasaggie2015 stats be added to the bingo card

This could be a really funny bit

Send them to me via PM and I'll post them with any and all necessary embellishments and fake game reports.

Sounds good. I'm to play it up like its the 7th game of the World Series and post some fake tweets on the team and try to create a few controversies about playing time. I will be respectful with your last name if you don't want it blasted out here and just call you by your user name.

13 more games exactly like this all against the Yankees, and the Astros and Yankees will be even in overall favor this season alone

All he has to do is hit a moon shot to win the WS again, and he'll be worth at least $27 million.

I feel like we're at a point where regular season production from these guys is almost meaningless, so long as we make the playoffs. Correa, Altuve, and Yordan have all shown they have the ability to take over and come through in big moments. That's what we're paying them for, not the regular season.

ANOTHER SQUARE BITES THE DUST
Thanks to the White Sox bizarre winning streak (4 and counting) and LA's continued Astros-like swoon, the Dodgers can no longer double up the White Sox win total for the year. Only 2 people picked what seemed like a decent bet a long time ago.

PENA POWER
JP had his 15th homer last night. He needs 17 to hit the square. Last night was his 82nd game batting leadoff for the year. He's still hitting .322, slugging .510 and sporting an .889 OPS.

Only 2 Astro leadoff hitters have ever hit more than .320 and slugged more than .500 for a whole season.

Altuve in 2016 and 2017 and Craig Biggio in 1998. That's it

So while I don't want this season to end anytime soon, a "can't wait for '26" will definitely be an entire year of JP leading off.
Some of his current leadoff stats projected to 162 games include 213 hits, 45 doubles, 24 HR, 89 RBI, and 30 SB. Amazing transformation.

KING OF ALL MONSTERS
Yordan is making a serious push for his 2 remaining squares.
His average jumped 23 points to .252 last night, the square is .300.
And his OPS is now .750, 98 points behind Pena's .848. It's gone up 105 points since he came back on August 26th.

THREE TO GO
Brian Abreu needs 3 strikeouts to get to 100.

EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS EXCEPT JAKE
Because of injury, slow start, or just being terrible (Yainer), everyone else is behind their square paces - Diaz, Cam, Walker, Paredes, Altuve, Hader, Framber, Hunter, Spaghetti, Tucker, Bregman, Correa, Verlander, Pressley - all of them.
Rafael Montero is making it interesting by getting his ERA down to 4.73 in the ultimate high-stakes Yo-Yo game.

BREAKING NEWS

TEXASAGGIE2015 TO HONOR ASTRO LEGEND, DON #16 FOR UPCOMING SEASON

HOUSTON (AP) - In a move as bold as playing for a team named after Satan, Prince of Darkness, local TexAgs legend TexasAggie2015 announced today via Myspace that he will wear #16 this season when he suits up for the Diablos, honoring Astro legend Grae Kessinger in the process.

"Grae is a guy I've modeled my game after for years," 2015 said in his MySpace post. "I like the pace he hits at. I like the way he goes out there and consistently give you the same effort day after day, or maybe a few times a month when it's a blowout. I think I can do the same thing for the Diablos as we mock Christian values with our sinful moniker."

Kessinger played two seasons for the Astros from 2023 to 2024, leading the team to a pair of AL West titles with his steady hands and keen eye for the baseball. In 2024, he shocked the world by having an on-base percentage 160 points higher than his batting average, and also became the first Astro to put together the legendary Sextuple-Zero season - posting perfect round numbers for hits, doubles, triples, homers, RBI, and steals.

Reached for comment from his home in Oxford, MS, Kessinger said 2015 had a real chance to live up to the number he's wearing.
"You hear a lot about 5-tool players, but what about a 0-tool player?" Kessinger said via Skype. "You don't get more perfect than zero. It's just math, baby."
When asked if he planned on signing with a MLB team in 2025, Kessinger said he was 'biding his time for the right opportunity'. When told that there were only 20 games left in the season, he ended the call.

It should be noted that the author of this piece did not realize that Kessinger and former Astro Jeff Keppinger were two different people until the last week of spring training in 2024.

According to Fangraphs, "A Meltdown is when a reliever's WPA is less than or equal to -0.06 in any individual game." WPA is "win probability added"

It means that the pitcher lowered the Win Probability of the game by 6% since the moment they entered the game

Not sure if this was mentioned about Alvarez yesterday. There have been two players who have had five ABs in a game with exit velo over 100mph since exit velo has been tracked, Yordan and Shohei. Yesterday was the second time Yordan has accomplished that feat.

Dana needs to overhaul the S&C staff, this is ridiculous. The entire year

Why does there always have to immediately be someone to blame? Foul balls off shins happen. What would the S&C staff have to do with that anyway? If they make the guy stronger, foul balls of shins are only going to hurt more. You think if we get Black Death Larry Jackson in there he's going to make shins tougher? Maybe we are looking for a Muy Thai guy that will beat them with bamboo sticks?

If it's part of your process that you have to point the finger, let's figure out if he was wearing a shin guard when it happened. It might be his own damn fault. Or more than likely it was just bad luck.

Reading comprehension miss on your part. I asked what happened to Jake. That more than implies I did not know. Absolutely, the S&C staff needs to be reviewed as part of determining what injuries could have been mishandled this season. Maybe it's none, maybe not.

Checking in on the team totals from umpire scorecards to date:
https://umpscorecards.com/data/teams

No. 2 Detroit +17.51
No. 3 Seattle +15.78
No. 4 Toronto +13.86
No. 8 NYY +9.4
No. 10 Boston +6.44

So our immediate competition is in the upper echelon.

No. 21 Houston -9.15

That's the best poor treatment we've had in a while according to umpire scorecard.

Others of note:
No. 14 Texas +.018
No. 28 LAD -12.91

Edit - Thanks to Moe for confirming our recent historical totals.

In other words, hes going to hold his current team up for ransom. The same team that traded its other star player away to allow Bregman to play his position without team issues.

The Boston media will crucify him if he does this and leaves. They may crucify him if he does it and stays.

Boston media/fans are going to crucify the team if they let him walk. All they have to do is top 2/80 M and he's stays long term.

Sure but topping it means adding years and money. He wants 9/boatload. He wants that 10 year deal he couldn't get a year ago.

Getting turned down by AB and beating Tucker to the punch starting to look the like Dana Brown's two best moves yet.

Both guys had great starts to their seasons, got hurt, and now are putting up JAG #s.

Bregman will be 32 on March 30, 2026.
Hit .298 with a .927 OPS in the first half of 2025
Hitting .260 with a .745 OPS in the second half.

7 HR and 24 RBI in April
2 HR and 9 RBI in August

Sox are currently #5 seed and unlikely to move higher than 4 - which means 1st round matchup with the Yankees.

Tucker started out maybe even hotter than AB. .935 OPS in April, .882 in May, .982 in June. Then .675 and .735 in July and August. 17 HR and 52 RBI in the first 3 months of the season. 5 HR and 21 RBI since then. Found out how loyal Cub fans are to the new guy in a slump (not at all). He'll be 29 on January 17.

Cubs got lapped by Brewers, now down 6 games with 22 to go. Currently they'd host the Padres in the wild card 4-5 matchup. We all know how Tucker wants in the post-season.

Wants a max deal, but do the Cubs want that?

Tucker: 22 HR, 73 RBI, 25 SSB, .854 OPS at age 28

Right next door in center:

Pete Crow-Armstrong: 28 HR, 83 RBI, 31SB, .784 OPS at age 23. Not even eligible for arbitration until 2027 and under team control until 2031.
