6-0 was gonna get us in. That ain't happening. 5-1 probably would so now with 5 left we have to go 5-0. One more loss and we are done. Still holding out hope. Man those days of clinching the division with over a week to go sure were nice!

Framber still has one more outing. We are cooked.

I could 100% see us winning the next 4, feeling great… getting hope and then losing the regular season finale in uncompetitive fashion to miss the playoffs

I didn't believe it until the sweep last weekend. I thought we'd get in and then when we swept Texas it seemed like a foregone conclusion we'd be in.

Just can't believe how gutless this team is. It's honestly shocking given the winning culture how it seems to mean nothing to them right now.

People have complained about Walker all year. Yanier all year. Altuve all year. Many questioned the Correa trade because of the down year he was having under a different coaching staff. Jake hasn't had any power this season. Nobody likes Dubon. Smith hit a wall weeks ago.

If you think a coaching staff can magically light a fire under these guys and get them to perform at a level we haven't seen all season, you're fooling yourself.

These guys are professional athletes. If they aren't competitive enough to want to win and make the playoffs, then we need to clean house. They are grown ass men. They shouldn't need a coach to point out what every damn Astros fan knows.

Then wtf does a manager do? That is exactly what a manager is for at this level.

What's crazy is that you could argue this season's failure has come down to losing to the A's.

4-7 against them

Talk about horrible timing… On 790 during the commercial break, they just played the promo for the Astros and it was talking about how they play their best baseball with their backs against the wall, it's about to be pennant chase season, and how this team is going all the way, etc

Haven't done the math. But would be fitting for this team to be eliminated in a minor league park

I just don't see it happening. I wouldn't be surprised if one player is traded in a Tucker type move but can't see a wholesale rebuild. It would also cause some clubhouse issues with a bunch of leftover veterans who likely won't be content to play on a bad team.

- Trade Walker (you may have to eat some salary and won't get much return but it's better than him playing for you)
- re-sign Caratini
- sign decent pitching
- rework the outfield

To me the strength of this team will be Correa, Pena, Yordan, Paredes, and Smith. Build around them and fill the holes with people who will actually make contact and get on base. Also include Altuve because he's still good IMO… leading team in homers and OPS of .766

I highly doubt they don't give a F. I don't think this team is full of guys who enjoy losing and don't care that they're missing the playoffs.

Some of y'all need to realize they're just not good enough. They don't have the talent and skills needed.

It's not a matter of caring. It's a matter of doing. They care. They just can't do it.

Not so sure about the talent piece against the A's? Parades is good so is Correa so is Jose and Diaz and Victor. Who do the As have except like 3 guys? This team has talent minus Walker and Sanchez. It's up to Joe to get the best out of them IMO. If not then what is Joes job other than filling out the lineup card and pulling pitchers?

What a run its been! Hopefully they can put something together to contend for the division next year.

Just have to win 5 in a row. Lets go Astros!
Beau Holder

Kurtz
Soderstrom
Langeliers
Butler
Rooker

All would be preferable to what we're running out at their positions. Add in Wilson as well as long as Peña is gone. And probably Cortes as well since all our outfielders are worthless.

Astros Bingo Update 9-24-25

Well 18 of our 40 contestants just lost the most picked square of the season, 90-94 wins. Getting eliminated from winning the division will take most people down another square.
If the Astros can win 1 out of the last 5, a whole bunch of other people get a very important square.

The A's are 1 win from activating the 75-win square.
Rafael Montero teasing both sides with a 4.58 ERA. His square is <> 4.50.
When the Rangers get eliminated tonight, another few people will get a square.

The current co-leaders are at 8, so it will take at least 9 squares to win it outright. Here's a list of the remaining contenders who have the best chances of getting to 9 along with their remaining squares.

The spreadsheet.

wmitchell - 8
Montero >4.50, A's 75W

texasaggie2015 - 6
Tucker 25 HR, Montero <4.50, 6+ L streak, 85-89 wins

Chief Elko - 8
Tucker 25 HR, A's 75 W

Marvin - 8
A's 75 W, Judge 55 W, 85-89 wins

Original 1836 - 7
85-89 wins, win AL West, Tucker 25 HR, A's 75 W, Montero <4.50

Wangus - 8
85-89 W, win AL West

ntouch - 6
Tucker 25 HR, miss playoffs, 85-89 W, Walker 25 HR

One more L and we can put this season to bed, and I have no doubt we will find a way to lose at least one more.

Who do we target to replace the coaching staff (assuming all are deservedly ****canned)?

Crane's not gonna blow it up yet, but big changes are needed to maximize the next year or two. Hopefully he has a manager in mind to take over already. I don't believe that the window has closed yet.

after last night...the A's have out-doubled the Astros 285 to 237

a difference of 48 doubles

How long do you want to ignore this user?
it will be hard to blow anything up in the offseason

the Astros have 7 players on the books with a salary between $17 MM and $33 MM for 2026

LMj + Hader + Javier + Altuve + Correa + Yordan + Walker = $160 MM
Mr.Bond
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You have to find a way to unload Walker. Can LMJ be restructured?
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.
htxag09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
LMJ should retire and out of good faith should be giving the Astros money back....

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm hoping we can take his current salary (no additional money), but stretch it out for 20 years. He can then be the official clubhouse barista and get buried in the H.
W
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Dana should be able to unload Walker, but the Astros probably eat 40 to 50% of the remaining contract

so he'll still be on the 2026 books for $12 MM or so
W
How long do you want to ignore this user?
and another player...

the Astros paid Dubon $5 MM for .654 OPS and OPS+ 81

woof

this isn't 1985 where all-glove no-hit is acceptable

Dana will have to get creative given how hamstrung we are with some of the roster, but the obvious changes that could work wonders for this team will be new leadership at the managerial position, hitting coaches, and medical staff. Make that offseason priority number one and go from there. The core of Altuve, Correa, Paredes, Pena, Smith, and Alvarez can still be really strong.

I think its more of a manager that is way over his head and incapable of getting his teams to perform when it matters. You cannot tell me that Peña, Altuve, Alvarez, Correa, etc are 'not good enough'

they have demonstrated they can be good enough

I mean lets take the mariners...is their roster that much different than the last couple of years? What was the biggest change for them this season?

Hint - it starts with ahole and ends with Servais
