Rooting for Brewers, Reds, or Padres. Cubs winning it wouldn't be too bad either, but yeah, I can't see myself watching even one pitch this postseason.

Sucks big time that the Astros are out, but I'll definitely be watching. At the end of the day it's baseball. Get all you can until football is all you have as you prep your balls to be swiftly kicked by the Ags.

Thank you. Something has to change. Can't just run it back with exactly the same cast and expect things to be different.

I'd like to see someone without a trophy win it all this year (not you, Seattle). My preference is the Friars, partly in sympathy for San Diegans for having their football team Bud Adams-ed to LA. Also, it'll be easy to root for them now without Steve Garvey on the team.

the Brewers always seem to come up short in the playoffs -- despite strong regular seasons

what a bizarre season for Jake

on May 3rd vs. the White Sox...Jake hit 2 HR's and posted 7 RBI

yet he finished the year with just 3 HR and 24 RBI in 343 at-bats

he did not homer at Daikin this season...and only drove in 4 runs in 47 home starts

final OPS .727 and OPS+ 103 -- which were large improvements over the past 3 years

defensive runs saved +5 -- which ranked 14th among centerfielders

Jake went from looking like a guy who could bat around .250 with 15-20 HRs to a pure contact hitter. He cut down the strikeouts and was on base more, which are good things, but was it worth the loss of power?

I'll probably keep up with it as background noise… But won't watch full games until the World Series or if an ALCS/NLCS gets to a game six or seven

Unless it's dodgers vs Yankees again then I'm out

Every time the Phillies win a world series, the economy crashes. Please no Phillies win.

I'm going to watch 0 playoffs but I think the Brewers have a good chance and it would be good for that org to win a WS

I think the Brewers are going to get bounced in the first round. They are the aberration of the teams in the postseason where they don't hit for power. Much, much harder to string together hits against consistent better pitching than the regular season.

**** it.

This season exhausted me. I don't care right now.

Thats fair. All I care about right now is Aggie football and then if the Texans can find a way to get to 3-3 I'll be locked in on them too

After having a little time to digest it -- this season was such a disappointment.

But... if you would have told me we would only have 48 games of Yordan, Pena and Hader would both be out for two months, two of our pitchers in the rotation at the start of the season went down with TJ and a third coming back from TJ went down on his 3rd start back -- and that we won 87 games with a shot at the postseason -- I would have taken it.

We'd operated as a house of cards all reason long. We were in a position due to smoke and mirrors. A better approach at the plate would have helped. Better motivation and leadership from the managerial chair would have helped.

The most disappointing part is we had led the division for so long, then the house of cards fell when it mattered the most. For perspective, the Orioles were close to where we were with injuries, and they finished with 75 wins after winning 91 last year and 101 in 2023.

This team was not going to win the WS with all the injuries. So -- let's take the extra time in the offseason to recover. Our best hope is to retool and reload for 2026.

If we had the rest of the lineup hitting the way they should, having Jake hitting a lot of base hits from the 8-9 at around a .300 clip would be fine. When 2-5 can't hit the broad side of a barn with a bat and Jake is batting 6th, we needed more power from him.

Turned on 790 this morning for a few minutes just to hear how Espada was assumed to be returning next year simply based on injuries. Nope nope nope, that was enough of that.

Crossed T-Mobile Park off my list this weekend. Great atmosphere as expected, but having the doyers in town probably brought it up a notch. Wish i hadn't forgotten to try a Seattle Dog outside the stadium.

therein lies the rub

the 2024 Astros needed 2025 Jake (on-base guy)

the 2025 Astros needed 2024 Jake (slug guy)

For a guy who is supposed to be at the bottom of the order I think it was a very good change. If he was the 9 hole all year he'd have had a great season

handing out some flowers across the league...

15 players played 160 or more games this season. Rafael Devers led MLB with 163 games played.

the Mariners had 2 players reach 160 games: J-Rod and Arozarena. Raleigh played in 159

the Mets had 3 players reach 160 games: Alonso, Lindor, and Soto

the Royals had 2 players and the Braves had 2 players. Witt jr. played in 157

Rooker with the A's played in 162

------
maybe it's a culture thing within organizations. Some emphasize and prioritize rest during the season (like the Astros) and others don't

the Astros need to really celebrate Altuve's reaching the 2,500-hit milestone next year

Raleigh played in 159 --- 159! 120+ as a catcher and 30+ as DH. He hit 60 HRs.

The next closest catchers are 31 Langeliers, 31 Goodman, 30 Salvy. Salvy played in 155 games. In previous years, Cal has not hit more than 34 HRs with a similar workload.

I'll say it again -- Cal is likely on something.

This is where I'm at on Jake.

And... it's going to be strange not having to plan my October around Astros games this year.

What a sad, sad piece of "journalism."

It completely discounts injuries and click bait. Shame on USA Today for posting this *****

I was thinking the same thing.
4 more years of .265 or worse might take it under.

His OPS+ the last four seasons is trending like most players' do as they age out: 161, 151, 124, and 112.

Altuve was fighting through injuries most of the second half unfortunately.

They had planned to really lighten his workload but with so many guys out it just wasn't happening.
