CLE with a homer and an RBI double in the bottom of the 8th to take a 3-1 lead.

It doesn't work if you don't draft well. Much, much more rare to get 3 or 4 young draft hits that do what the Astros did.

Sure, sell off some pieces, but you can still win without stripping it all the way down.

Dana is going to have to have his recent draft picks start hitting.

You have to have the right GM to do it as well. I'm
Not sold Dana could do it.

A hard rebuild means that we are going to trade pieces that will bring in the most, best talent as we can. The big 3 pieces would be Pena, Yordan and HB. Maybe some others could bring in some - Parades, Yainer, Walker (please), Jake. Then, you're right, we have to draft well and like you, I'm not necessarily sold on Dana being able to do it.

First, we need a new manager and coaching staff.

I know it drives 2015 crazy, but the shtick of Bagwell making all the decision behind the scenes is my favorite running gag on this thread.

Doesn't drive me crazy at all. Not one bit.

Since it's the offseason. What's the most annoying narrative/individual thing the board has said that you knew was 100% wrong and/or just plain stupid?

Oh man....

The whole "Bagwell called all the shots and signed Abreu" thing is definitely one. I'm blanking on some others. That's a fun question though.

Maybe I could open a Q&A session lol an "Ask Ketch" if you will

It's kinda gone away recently but I personally like Crane is cheapskate

Tucker continues to do what he does best: suck a big bag of donkey dicks when it matters most.

Why in the world would they be pulling Cease in the 4th with 69 pitches???

But even trading everything away, you're not guaranteed they will hit. I'd trust Dana more with a trade though.

My point is there are many more teams who have tried a rebuild and it's taken 10 years to get back to relevance than there are who went through 3 years of suck to playoffs, and then to WS.

What the Astros did with the 100 loss teams is the exception as isn't guaranteed again.

I'm not ready to tear it all down. Lots here believe it's just a fix of the hitting coaches and Joe. Why not make those changes and let it play out for a year before burning it to the ground to try to coax the Phoenix out?

The dude is extremely talented at baseball but really doesn't like baseball. It's one of the reasons we really didn't want to commit big money to him.

My preference is a complete rebuild, but I'd be ok with just getting a new manager and coaching staff and making a few moves - see if we can get a taker for Walker being one of those moves. I'd rather not see Diaz on the roster, but not sure what we'd get for him and no idea when Janek will be ready. We're going to need a SP and that won't come cheap....

I can't imagine trading for Mason Miller and using him as a 7th inning setup guy.

Would love a game 3 in all of these series except for Boston/NYY. I want the Yankees out immediately

Two more incredible games so far today.

I hope the trend stops with NYY. I'd like to see them lose again in heartbreak fashion with some kind of first in MLB history thing. Again.

I can get on board with replacing, but not rebuilding. As a hypothetical, we could trade Yordan for prospects and then sign a guy like Pete Alonso. You'd gain talent in the system without sacrificing production by replacing an oft injured slugger with one who's shown tremendous durability.

Again, that's just a hypothetical, but I don't see the club rebuilding. I expect a retooling of the major league roster to remain competitive, while exploring options to supplement the roster and farm system through trades like the Tucker deal.

In clearing Abreu and Montero, there's more money for Dana to work with this offseason. I don't ever expect Crane to endure more rebuilding, but I think he's hiring better GMs than McClane and don't expect the reload approach to have the same negative impact on the organization as when Ed Wade was running the show.

You just came off a season where you lost the most WAR to injury of any team this year and still almost won the division.

Why would you prefer a rebuild? It's a huge risk you suck for a long time if you rebuild. It feels like a rash and extreme reaction to missing the postseason this year.

I could be persuaded if, as you noted beforehand, Jim replaced the coaches and gave the players new and more authoritative voices. Maybe respected is the right word. Or helpful. Or whatever- just show some improvement in plate discipline, running awareness, etc.

Ok. I've gotten over my morose feeling of depression.

I'm still not watching games but at least I'm here.

Hot take. I don't think we are firing Joe. Everyone else that cut bait did so yesterday (or Atlanta early today). If it were going to happen it would have.

I'll bet the injuries gets him a break. But I think Cintron and Snitker are sacrificial lambs. The good news is that does allow the pitching coaches to stay.

I also think Perezchica gets moved off 3B. He may stay as IF coach but someone else plays the windmill.

The official scorer called that a single by Judge? Sorry, I'm not so charitable. That was an E7.

Homer.

Anybody help? Watch whenever a right handed batter is up and they show a shot from the dugout showing the batter's face.

There is an actor sitting behind the right handed batter...about helmet high. White hair, big dude...I think he usually plays a mafia type in movies. We can't remember his name.

he is not wearing glasses..sitting next to a lady in a yankees cap

Chapman allowing the runner at second to see his grip and relay it to the hitter isn't cheating.....

Looked like he was also relaying mid windup against a guy throwing 101. Yeah if anything that probably hurts the batter if he's trying to look away from Chapman or catch it in his peripheral

I think the Astros are okay with just being okay. Injuries hurt this year but this team was not a great team even if all healthy

That Christian Walker had as bad a season as Jose Abreu

I disagree. A healthy Yordan for 150 plus instead of 40 (really 10 healthy), a healthy Paredes for 155, a healthy Pena for 155, a healthy LFer,a healthy Hader who doesn't miss the last two months of the season, a healthy Arrighetti, Wesneski and every other pitcher?

This team wins the Division easily and likely is on a bye if they are not so dismembered by injuries. They were record level injuries.
