Looking to go with 2 other couples down to Riviera Maya or Cancun in late July for a few nights. Never done an all inclusive ourselves and appreciate recommendations. I think I would prefer a smaller place, not one of the massive resorts, and something a little bit away from the main strip of resorts. Budget would be sub $1K a night.

Sargassum has been AWFUL this year. Just an FYI.

my wife and I went here and it was so amazing - tranquility was the word I would use to describe it

While many all-inclusive resorts tend to be large, full-scale properties, there are some incredible hidden gems out there.

I just booked a couple at the Viceroy Riviera Maya with their all-inclusive planboutique, elevated, and perfect for what they were looking for.

Tulum also has a few boutique-style options that might be a great fit, depending on your vibe.

If you're exploring ideas or have questions, I'd love to help guide you to the right spot!

Does the group lean more toward relaxing at the beach or lounging by the pool? Are you hoping for more of a quiet, romantic vibe, or something with fun activities and social energy? If you are not working with a travel advisor my contact info is in my bio. I wanted to include some pics of properties that might be what you are looking for.

El Dorado Maroma is a great smaller resort with a nice beach if you like that.

I'm not much of a beach guy myself, but folks in the group would enjoy it. Either a nice pool or good beach access would be preferred. I'd say collectively we are looking for good food and drinks, service, peaceful, ability to do some activities as a group.

This one was actually on my list. Have you been and can share the experience?

Yes, a couple of times & going back again in August. Nice pool with swim-up bar, and great access to the beach. Food is really good as well, and also great service. There's a Facebook group called El Dorado Maroma Maromaholics if you want to try to join it that has tons of info on it. Not a lot to do at night, so I'd call it peaceful. Also, great excursions available right next door.

Awesome, this one is high on my list. Appreciate a personal recommendation too.

Which room type have you stayed in? Any you recommend or we should stay away from?

We stay in a swim-up suite (it's not real big) that leads right out into the main pool. Other room types we've considered and heard/saw that are nice are the Beachfront Heaven Suites (pretty large unit) & the Honeymoon Villa (2 story unit). The Honeymoon Beachfront Villas are also 2 story and the most expensive on property. I would tend to stay around the main pool or to the south vs on the northern side of the resort.

We went here this past February. Really liked it and we've been to these types of AIs the past 4 Febs straight. Probably our favorite. This hotel is pretty small and adult only but with access to the larger family resort immediate adjacent.

Yes! It's absolutely stunning! It's definitely pricey but if you have the budget it's well worth it in my opinion.

My wife and I almost booked this place last night for our 20th anniversary lol. I think we both decided to sleep on it. On top of the cost, I'm a little concerned traveling to Mexico.

Send me an email and we can set up a time to chat about Mexico. As a travel advisor this is a topic I chat about on a daily basis. I personally go to Mexico 4-5 times per year solo, for couples travel and family. Next week I will be exploring San Miguel De Allende then the following off the Isla Mujeres.

As a follow-up, we booked 4 nights at Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres at the end of July. One of their newest resorts so will report our experience when we get back.

Yes, would love to hear your feedback!

I've sent a few couples there already but haven't really gotten much back in terms of feedback so I'm going to take that as it was good but would love some detailed info.

Enjoy your trip!

Got to Excellence Coral today. Wow. This place is nice.

Did the 9 course tasting menu for dinner. Fantastic!

Craft cocktails are legit (woodford and bulleit for bourbon choices). Even has Coors Light hard to find in Mexico.

Octopus with chile sauce

Black Marlin

Duck Birria

New favorite AI down there.

Could go for a week and eat at a different dinner restaurant every night. Entertainment is aligned with older Millennial/Gen X - think 80s cover bands, did karaoke one night where the entire resort was singing along.

Drinks very contemporary. Espresso martinis, carajillos, spicy margaritas. Smoked old fashioneds and manhattans. They have Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey and Wild Turkey Rye 101 - some real bourbon.

Aroma (the cafe) is basically a starbucks with ice cream that's open daily from 7am until 11pm. Lattes, frappes, espressos, americano, you name it they make it.

Freshly chopped coconut drinks daily from 12-4pm. "Healthy" or top it off with rum like we do.

Sounds dumb but really liked that they had Coors light. Wine selections (to purchase) were legitimate. You could get a bottle of Artemis. A bit overpriced but if you want a real napa cab, you can get it there.

Service is impeccable. We had free laundry service with our room. Turndown every night. Pool concierges will come by and clean your sunglasses and spritz you with cool water.

Tons of chairs available next to the pool. They don't allow "saving them" so you never need to "get up and save a seat". Endless chairs on the beach too with fast drink service.

Sky bar is truly unique. It's a rooftop lounge with bar that has layout chairs for sunbathing, palapas, and also couches / chairs for evening drinks. It's open until 11. Oh yeah, it's also got an infinity edge pool overlooking the beach. Non-stop service to you and you can order food.

Everything is done from an app. Room service, menus, etc.

Spa was great. If you get excellence club, you get daily hydrotherapy sessions (sauna, cold plunge, jets, and facial massage/towel wrap at the end). More perks than that - highly suggest getting excellence club. Special checkin lounge is nice as is the 2 exclusive pools on the beach with their own bars.

Fun activities in the pool.

Sports bar is legit. They had NBA finals, NHL finals, and even the UFC PPV on Saturday. MASSIVE screen.

This place is our Mexico, adults only vibe though. I want damn good food and damn good drinks. Some decent entertainment at night and impeccable service/amenities. It checks those boxes unlike any other (outside of EPM).
