CNAs looking good, but short term spikes don't matter to me. I hold and am looking for new ath on older tokens and 20x+ on new tokens.

May the force be with our bags.

I just bought some IAG.

I am wondering if I can use the below method for tax purposes. What are your thoughts?

Back in 2021, I bought a chunk of ADA when it was $2.29. This ADA was all transferred to one unique address in my wallet. I now swapped ADA from that same address for IAG when ADA was at $0.9236. Does this mean I can claim a $1.3664/ADA capital loss on my taxes?

Do you mind sharing which Cardano token you hold?

I believe that is exactly correct. It would have become tricky had it moved wallets, but being dormant in one wallet then moved and sold, it can be tracked without doubt.

If you didn't swap 100$ of the ADA document how much you did, because you'll likely need to manually enter those details whenever you 1. Do taxes 2. Move or sell remainder

ADA
Iagon
Nuvola
Agent T
Orcfax
Gero
C3
Copi
WMTx

Please remember that I got in early and have big bags of the first 6 listed, so even 10% increase reflects significant dollars for my portfolio.

I still believe in them all, some are more long term like WMTx.

Thank you! I still feel like I got in early enough on IAG. If these tokens are still only available through Cardano swaps, surely they can still see significant increases if/when they move to CEX's?

Nuvola may be my next purchase as it is partnered with Iagon.

It may end up being more complicated for me. I did not use 100% of the ADA from that address. But now I just bought some $AGENT, and the ADA address it came from I could not track down in my prior transactions, so I have no idea what the price of that ADA was when I bought it. Not sure how to track it down?

1. Nuvola is partners with Iagon, OrcFax, Minutes network, Copi, and others. Blockchain requires nodes and they run nodes for teams, plus give out the rewards. They also have Nola which is a sell your frequent flyer miles, CC rewards, etc.

2. If you bought the ADA on a CEX there's a detailed record of it.

3. My entire list is still early if bought now

I see what happened now. I had X ADA on one address that I bought in 2021, but then when I did my stake key registration it moved X - 2 ADA to a new address which I couldn't find a record of on the CEX. So know I can see in Lace which address that stake transfer came from, so now I know the value of that ADA.

Cardano $ADA to be used on Apple Pay devices

I wonder how long it will take. As I understand, they can now develop that functionality. Hopefully soon?

Haven't read the full article. I wonder if ADA will have to be pegged at a certain $ amount once placed in Apple PayPal ledger.

I couldn't sit there and try to pay while it fluctuates in the market

"That's $7.86, Mr. Stain"

"Okay, here is 7 ADA...wait 6.5 ADA...no, sorry, ummm 6.2 ADA... Nevermind, here is a $10 bill"

"Sir, what do I do with that?"

ADA friends, is there a way to force or trick a DEX into using a specific ADA address for the swap? The DEX keeps automatically selecting a wallet address which has ADA I bought in 2025, but I want to use an address from 2021 to be able to claim a capital loss.

Unsure if I understand correctly. When using a DEX you are typically in a wallet, or have connected to one, so it will automatically use that wallet address.
I have never used a DEX without connecting to my wallet first, or having been in the wallet and chosen a dex to perform the swap.

Within your cardano wallet there is a main address and sub-addresses which all contain different ADA amounts based on the receiving address you used in the past. All the addresses are linked to your staking address.

But regardless, I've decided to use the FIFO method since I've learned that is a tax calculation method that the IRS accepts for crypto.

Side question, but is minswap trustworthy for doing swaps? I noticed that the tokens like IAG that I swapped from there have their Policy ID's truncated. Would I be screwed later if I try to sell these and the Policy ID is shortened? They also appear shortened like this in Lace.

Minswap 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114

Coingecko 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114494147

This all sounds different to what I experience. For example, my Eternl wallet - I send my ADA from CB to my Eternl "Receiv" address. When I swap simply click swap and choose the token, it automatically swaps without any other action and files into sub account. If I swapped ADA for Iagon it sends the Iagon directly to that sub wallet.
Very likely I misunderstood your question.

The wallets I use automatically choose the DEX with best price and lowest slippage. I can choose a specific dex, as before the update we had to, but now i allow the aggregator to choose.

Let me clarify my concern. Each token has a unique Policy ID that you want to check to make sure you're actually buying/swapping for what you want. There have been scam tokens that look similar to a token, but they are fake and would have an incorrect Policy ID. So when I saw that minswap is not keeping the same record of the Policy ID for IAG, I got concerned. Is minswap trustworthy? Even if I use DexHunter, sometimes minswap is all it uses for the swap.

Again, on Eternl scam tokens are labeled scam tokens and removed from your sub wallets if they show up (free, airdrop, etc.).

I have never had to worry about this. I have used MinSwap a lot but always through my hot wallets.

I just figured out the issue. Those coin tracking sites are attaching the token name at the end of the Policy ID, so minswap is correct and is showing only the Policy ID.

What some already knew. Eht was allowed to be labeled "decentralized" with friendly legislation. However, my guess is that when more stringent classifications are created it will not fall into the highest tier of decentralization.

2 months old but some insight & information that most haven't seen, to perhaps understand a few things better. Cardano fans should know these things.

Thanks for sharing. I'm planning to watch those later. I'm feeling good about ADA bouncing off a low of $0.69. I bought more at around $0.72 on Friday.

I also picked up some WMTx and got that staked.
