This thread is awesome. But many posts just have a pic of the beer, name, but no details or thoughts on the beer. Does that mean bueno.

I'll add, Belgians and IPAs are at the top but pretty much like anything. What's your top 1 or 2 beers you get at a store in Texas.

I'll pass on one I like. Fruity Pellets from Great Heights Brewing Company.

If I post a pic with no details, it's a good beer. If it's not good, I'll let yall know what I don't like about it.

I agree. I could do a better job describing the beer myself. I'll start with this one. This is Stub's Texas Pilsner from Lakewood Brewery. It's a decent Pilsner not a great Pilsner. The flavor has a slight mineral flavor to me. Not unpleasant but noticeable. My main complaint is the lack of head retention. The head dissipates to nothing after a few minutes. No head in a Pilsner glass just looks dumb. Don't get me wrong. I bought a six pack and will happily drink them all (I'm already two in) but I'll probably drink them from the can while fishing.
Cheers

Today's Friday share beers. The G*IPA from Allstadt had good flavor but seemed a little thin. At 5.3% it would make a good lawnmower beer. The Lily of the Valley from Tree House is typical Tree House. Super hazy with big mouthfeel. Tasting notes mention orange peel which is spot on. The Magic Beans from Smuttynose is A great coffee porter. Smooth with the right amount of coffee. The draught beer in the glass is Dunkel from Flensburger Brewery which is a damn fine Munich Dunkel. Sorry for the hazy pic. I think it's lawnmower grease.

Surprised at how pale the Flensburger is. Munich Dunkel is one of my favorite styles but every one I've had from the US has been dark brown or black. That beer looks like it'd pass for a marzen or even a vienna lager at breweries here. Are German interpretations typically that pale?

Also I think G*IPA might be Alstadt's worst beer. Making an IPA with solely German ingredients is interesting in theory but the implementation just doesn't work in my opinion. I like their lagers much better.

I've had german beer in germany and german beer in the u s of a. I'm convinced they bottle and send us the stuff brewed by the trainees.

Pit Boss 850 or the bigger one? I got the 850 last fall and have really enjoyed it. My favorite thing to cook on it is chicken wings. Haven't done a brisket or pork butt yet.

Shared a Citra all Ways from Tree House with Wifey this evening. They used all Citra hops but sourced them from three different areas. This one is an absolute Juice bomb... but I love Citra hops.

At my favorite taproom/bottle shop. Community Pint in Spokane rocks. Spokane is such a great beer town and it sucks I'm not out here as much anymore.

But this is the first time I've seen Russian River in Washington. Especially surprising in Eastern Washington. Apparently Stoup Brewing in Seattle started their own distributor and picked RR up.

Apparently they've had to place restrictions on Pliny here. They carry all the big ones (Happy Hops, Blind Pig, STS, etc) but people were banging the doors down for Pliny when they started getting it.

Edit: And they're just a couple of blocks from Lumberbeard which is one of the best breweries in the state (suck it Seattle). Another spot I try to hit when I'm in town. Spokane is suck a great beer town.

Alaska last week:

49th State Brewing, Anchorage

Golden Dall, Belgian-Style Tripel, 9% ABV

Excellent brew! My first of that type. I would buy this beer locally if available.

Prospector's Pizzeria & Alehouse, Denali Park

Delirium Tremens, Belgian Strong Golden Ale, 8.5% ABV

Another very solid brew, very enjoyable! Seems to have limited distribution in Texas. Will have to keep an eye out for it.

Picked up the Hoppin Nomad session IPA at ALDI to help keep me from blowing through my Tree House. It's actually pretty good. Pretty equivalent to what Spindletap or Tupps is putting out. Wifey and I shared the Tree House Daze yesterday afternoon. Damn delicious.

The Lake Life Brewery, Lake Livingston

IPA Not sure of ABV, the girls tending bar didn't know.

Not crazy about serving in mason jars but that's not a big issue. The beer was just OK, but this is a new micro brewery and it's their first run of IPA. Hopefully it gets better, especially because it's just around the corner from our house.

Today's Friday share beers. Glass on right is Festina Peche from Dogfish Head. It started out great but it got warm while we were tasting other beers and wasn't good anymore. I dumped probably a third of it. I forgot that I had brought New Day from Treehouse already. It was good just the same. The Stubs Texas lager and the Hopping Nomad I reviewed in the last week or so. The Rodenbach Grand Cru is one of the best beers in the world in my opinion.

Had a few hotel beers this week. I try to only post Pliny pictures when I think there is something interesting about it. In this case, it's because this is probably my last Pliny for a while.

If things go well I should be able to post a beer picture later this weekend that shows why.

Flew 3k miles into Boston and took a car service north to pick up my new, location-appropriate vehicle. It didn't seem like an electric Mini Cooper was going to do well in New England winter. Then headed back down to Tewksbury to grab some beers and pizza.

Had a Julius, Haze and Extra Green. All great. The pizza may be slightly better than RRBC.

Looking forward to getting back into NEIPAs. I (like many of you, I assume) have been envious of swampstander's beers the past few years. I have now solved that for myself.

I'm jealous of you now. I am down to three cans left from the haul I brought back in April. I'll be back up there in August and might swing by and grab a couple 4pks to put in my suitcase.

ETA: I love their pizza.

Moving companies must love you. Hope everything goes smoothly.

And you are 100% correct on the envy of Swamp. My only trip to NE was a few days in New Haven, CT to visit a friend at Yale over spring break of my sophomore year in college. So I have not truly visited New England. It is on my bucket list to go to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Lots of US history and great beer.

Indeed. I am a bit ridiculous with the frequency and distance of my moves.

Had a Stoneface Brewing - Full Clip IPA at lunch today. Forgot to take a picture, but it was quite hazy and quite tasty. From the coast of NH.
