Just a pet peeve of mine that no one outside of this board would care about.
Got not 1, but 2 shipping notices that wine will be delivered Friday, when my office is closed for Good Friday. So, after holding it for a couple months even though the weather has been mostly fine, both decided this is the week to ship with the added bonus of attempting delivery on a holiday. I'm continually perplexed by shipping decisions.

I also have this pet peeve. I know wineries ship early week to get wine delivered on Friday/before the weekend, but post-Covid my company has been remote work on Friday's so nobody is here to receive. I've tried getting things shipped for Thursday delivery and it's 50/50 if it gets here Thurs or Friday or if they just try to upsell me overnight delivery at a huge cost. As a result I've had to get shipments delivered to the house which is far from ideal for our schedule.

I have a wine bar that receives all my wine now, and this has made life much easier for me, especially since we are there at least once a week. I could almost guarantee a shipment would show up even when I ran to the grocery store after waiting all day for a shipment.
If there is a FedEx or UPS store nearby, you can get it shipped there and pick it up. Also, I think Walgreens will receive wine shipments from FedEx and hold them. If you have to reroute mid-shipment, they will charge you.

Any recs for the Santa Cruz area? I'm heading over in a couple of weeks to do some hiking and have a day set aside for winery visits. I'm currently booked at Mount Eden in the morning and Windy Oaks in the afternoon. Both can be cancelled if there is something better that I'm missing.

I have some off-home storage at a place called Classic Wine. There are 4 locations in Dallas to choose from. One of the perks is the ability to have all my wine deliveries go straight there to a properly cooled environment. They also have tasting events and wine pricing specials as well so it's been well worth that investment.

I would have picked up one or two but have never had Cain and a lot of what I have read is that it's pretty bretty. Is it really that funky of a wine or is that overblown?

Which Classic do you go to? I am at the one in Frisco.

Would be interested as well. I have a 2007 1.5L I picked up from the marathon I'd be willing to contribute.
