It's not a Greek restaurant, but the dude who owns it comes from a Greek family, hence the handful of Greek dishes.

Theirs isn't bad at all, but not sure i would put it in the top 5. I enjoyed eating there though, cool little place with a good selection to choose from.

Mel's in Tomball was fantastic before the fire a couple years ago. Went back a couple of month's ago after they reopened and it was just not the same. Good, but not the tender meat / buttery soft crust we remember. Need to go back and give it another shot.

Jax Grill in Houston used to have a great one, but haven't been there in years. Hope it's still up to par.

With daughter and family in McKinney this weekend and had a delayed B'day dinner for a granddaughter at "Local Yocal". To maintain my search for BEST CFS I tried theirs. Mashed spuds and fresh green beans were top shelf. CFS was a crispy, tasty meat but not as good as Wolf Pack in Sealy. Batter was somewhat excessive and partially separated from steak. Gravy was too thick. Meat portion was generous … I didn't finish. Good meal overall and I would go back with a family group but I wouldn't classify as a BESTCFS!

I always liked CFS at Relay Station in Plantersville back in the day. No idea if it's still good. Looks like they've expanded into a B&B/event venue since the last time I went there.

OK … back to CFS … 8 old guys - class '69 - started a summer CFS crawl yesterday. Livingston, Spring, College Station and Wimberly represented . Went to Wolfpack Woodfired Tavern in Sealy. CFS was a 9+. 10 oz of cut with a fork tenderized round steak with a batter that clung to the meat and cooked perfectly. Surprise was appetizer of cream cheese, brisket stuffed jalepeno wrapped with bacon coated with batter and deep fried. If the CFS wasn't so good, I'd stop in just for these jewels!!! how'd I forget about them! I used to live around a mile away.

Orsak's Cafe in Fayetteville. Used to be awesome. They lost the touch for a few years but have regained the magic. They get my vote. I would choose the white gravy over the brown gravy. Sauteed onions on top are a must.

Well, I skimmed this thread and thought that I had posted but I guess not.

My personal favorite in the Houston area is Mia's Table. They are owned by the Carrabba family and really do a lot of things well. I love the casual atmosphere. Their chicken fried steak is genuinely a great pick in the area.
