Thanks for the contribution from Darby Rich. I didn't have an opinion of him other than wondering the extent to which he helped Tyler get into tip-top shape.

I'll take responsibility for what I wrote and if you read it carefully I'm not saying anything other than noting Artemus Gordon left some threads hanging. (Ross Martin played Artemus Gordon on the Wild Wild West TV series hence the somewhat obscure reference. It was early "steampunk" and I found it fascinating, btw, as science fiction.)

I still don't think the story is either false or loosely told (Rich confirmed so we kinda know it isn't false now though Bobinator in both his public and avatar personas strikes me as an awshucks good ole boy in the good sense. In other words he'd have your back when trouble starts if he liked you.) But it is beyond strange.

The funny thing about anonymity is it fights back when pushed and defends made up territory just to make a point. We haven't reached the heights of 4chan here, but OB might have. So it just seems wise that people with public reputations to uphold would be careful about stroking the flames so to speak.

I kinda admire that TexAgs has been careful of late to deal with flare ups. This is a neat, careful response. I would for the sake of sanity consider locking the thread and cleaning up the clearly incomplete, false representation and the goofy jabber that followed.

....and with saying all that we probably would have made it to the National Championship in the sports you listed. TexAgs is a forum, a forum is for opinions and facts. Just because you say a kid, WALKON let me remind you, should not be on the court starting does not make you a bad person. People these days have to much thin skin when either they get called out or even called a name. So what take the hit and move on.

I did say there's a difference in saying a walk on is playing too much and ctrl+v "this guy sucks we suck this is why he sucks why does he suck so bad" over and over again with a few insults thrown in. There's a pretty easy distinction between criticism and dumping all over a student athlete because you're having a temper tantrum. But of course you're free to do so, it's just not a very good look.

Texags is the main hangout for where the squeakiest wheels come to "dear diary" their tantrums during losses. If there's any evidence that the AD comes here to use the reasoned dialogue to bolster their hiring and firing decisions, we've yet to see it (or that the donors that make their decisions for them care much either). If I was AD, that's the exact validity I would give any fan board input (not to mention if they need the internet to figure out how when to do their job, we have bigger problems).

I'm not sure I see the similarity in recognizing that the student athletes see when you say that they're terrible vs. pretending the message board has been the deciding vote in basketball coaching changes.
