On Monday, Callie Garner took us Around Aggieland as Texas A&M athletes made headlines across the country, with standout performances, major milestones, and international honors highlighting a memorable week for the Maroon & White.

Men’s Golf
Texas A&M senior Phichaksn Maichon is turning professional after finishing No. 6 in the final PGA TOUR University rankings. He will make his pro debut Thursday at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina and earned an exemption into the Second Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School.

Maichon capped off a historic season as the NCAA runner-up, collecting two tournament wins and eight top-10 finishes in his final nine events. He finished the year ranked No. 9 nationally and earned All-SEC honors.

Women’s Golf
Former Aggie golfer Hailee Cooper made history at the U.S. Women’s Open, tying for seventh at Erin Hills with a final-round 70. She is the first Texas A&M golfer to finish in the top 10 at the event. Cooper, who played for A&M in 2022 and 2023, shot par or better in all four rounds to finish at 3-under. She currently ranks No. 8 on the Epson Tour’s Race for the Card standings.

Track & Field
Texas A&M qualified 24 total entries — 12 women and 12 men — for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for June 11–14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Jasmine Montgomery and Camryn Dickson advanced in both the 100m and 200m, with Montgomery clocking 22.26 in the 200m — the fastest by an Aggie in a decade. Both runners also contributed to the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams that advanced. Winny Bii led the triple jump field, while Jaiya Covington won her heat in the 100m hurdles.

On the men’s side, Ja’Qualon Scott qualified in both hurdle events. The Aggies also secured entries in the 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and steeplechase. Both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams earned spots in the championship, with the 4x100m posting a season-best 38.96.

Volleyball
Logan Lednicky was named to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the opening week of the Volleyball Nations League. She becomes the first Aggie selected for the senior national team since 2011 and will compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, against Italy, Brazil, the Czech Republic and South Korea.

Lednicky, a 2023 AVCA Second Team All-American, helped lead Texas A&M to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 and recorded 492 kills during the season.
