Key notes from Gerrod Chadwell interview
- We've had three weeks off, roughly. We’re in the last week before we really finish off our fall season. We leave on Sunday for Albuquerque. It’s a match play event that will be televised on the Golf Channel. Then we have a week at home before we go to San Marcos for an event. After that, we have about another week before we go to Waco to finish off the fall.
- It’s been great to have three weeks at home, just kind of getting everyone settled. We have four freshmen and a transfer. Everything happened so fast. We’re starting, now, to get into the rhythm. Three weeks in the gym have been amazing with our strength coach. It’s nice to know that we’ve worked on things that we saw in competition and let the girls kind of be normal. I’m itching to be back on the road.
- No, I don’t care about the rankings. I don’t know who our best five are. I think it’s indicative of the names on the roster. We haven’t lost yet. It will happen at some point. I’m more worried about the day-to-day and helping these young ladies get better. We want our best golf to be happening in March and April.
- It’s so competitive at home. We will talk about it all year: Our qualifiers and how we determine who travels could be as competitive as the event we play in. I am thankful for that. It makes us so much better.
- October 13 at Traditions is a big day for us. You get to meet our kids, see them in their element, see how good they are and the proceeds help us get up and down the road.
- Not all of these young ladies are going to be able to play golf for the rest of their lives. It’s about getting to know their stories and seeing their personalities. Those are just as good as their on-course talent. It’s a great day that we look forward to.
- We leave on Sunday after the Mississippi State game for the NB3 Matchplay at Twin Warriors.
