I've not heard of this guy, but the assassination of a prominent right-wing activist is never staying off of the GB. There's roughly a 100% chance this thread devolves into post after post about the radical left wanting to "silence our shared values." I'd bet money on it.

I am sickened by the level of violence in our country. As my son recently lost his mother, I am especially sad to learn that a girl will be growing up without a father.

Furthermore, when someone in America dies simply because he was exercising their 1st Amendment right, it's not a day to try to suppress anyone else's, be it intentional or not. Its in poor taste.

I'm no fan of the radical left but I hope that they cry out as loud as anyone else. These are completely against a civil society and the putrid act done by a coward was very un-American. ALL should unite for at least a few days. This should not be political. We should all stand united.

This was a political assassination of a man who debated ideas openly without ridicule instead of inciting violence. It is an incredibly sad day that someone would be killed for this. Sickening.

Am I missing something here? All the rhetoric coming from the right is declaring that Kirk was killed by a "leftist", yet as far as I know, no one has been arrested. This shooting seems different for a lot of reasons. Killed from 200 yards away with a single shot. Obviously a skilled shooter, not your usual weird kid living in his mother's basement. The skill level suggests military training, but if he's that skilled, why didn't he select a more prominent target? Kirk was a superstar in MAGAland, but relatively unknown to the rest of the population. Assassinations never make sense, but this one is particularly puzzling.

Suggests military training? A weird kid in their parents basement could likely make a shot at 200 yds with a scope. The military trains on farther distances with open sights. 200 yds is not some super long distance only skilled military members can do it type of shot.

The vast majority of political assassinations over the last 100 plus year have been from leftists. Kirk being a conservative icon amongst under 30 year olds, especially college kids, probably wasn't shot by another conservative.

Leftists vilify him and have been saying he deserved it and even celebrating his death.

We'll see (hopefully) but it's a pretty safe prediction it was someone on the left, and I'm someone who usually waits for actual evidence.

A 200 yard shot isn't complicated. Any 12 year old who hunts out west could make it. There's also socialist gun groups who train.

I hate communists, that is not hyperbole. But I would condemn anyone who assassinated a communist for his speech. This has no place in a free society.

Look at Boston trying to carry water for the left and plant a seed of an idea that someone who doesn't lean left would be responsible for assassinating a conservative pundit.

the number of people I see posting with their real names saying he deserved it is shocking. There is just no shame left on the fringe of the American left. They're an entirely different people altogether. We have nothing in common with them. We coexist on shared geography, but in no way else are we countrymen.

I never followed charlie. Making college students expose their ignorance is fish in a barrel. But the response to a political assassination for a guy who did nothing but speak to the opposition has absolutely radicalized me. A large swath of our populace is murderous.

I don't want anyone dying via gun violence. Maybe Kirk's murder will motivate conservatives to work with liberals towards ending gun violence in this country but I have my doubts.

But I also won't pretend that Charlie Kirk was a decent and kind person. He's made his career by saying awful and inflammatory things about others he disagrees with. I don't blame him for his murder in any way and at the same time will not lift him up or praise him as a martyr, role model, or someone to admire.

A 16 year old shot two classmates at school yesterday in Colorado before killing himself. That has barely registered on the news and on Texags. I wish we could all work together to make shootings like that and Kirk's murder stop. But there doesn't seem to be an appetite for that in a lot of conservative circles. Kirk himself even said that it was worth it to have some gun deaths a year in order to have the 2nd amendment.

So I'll stand arm in arm with you in condemning the murder of Charlie Kirk because no one should be murdered or be a victim of gun violence. Now what are we going to do about it? How are we going to stop it moving forward?

It's always the gun but never the one who pulls the trigger, eh? That's certainly a theory.

Let me know when the metro areas have control over gang and drug related shootings, too.
