What I don't understand is why didn't they do the normal hustle? Would Ross have seen thru it or Cahill wanted it on his terms so he could beat his ass on the course?

Weekly releases don't need a spoiler tag. Any once coming here and hasn't watched the latest and feel spoiled, it's their own fault.

But I took it to mean they hustled Cahill exactly how it would work.

I enjoyed that episode, but the hustle really made very little sense. It was more a hustle of the viewers than of Olyphant

This week, we were expected to believe that Zero is attractive enough to get Ross's attention.
Ha yeah that was the most glaring thing. This person, who half the thread thought was trans, is attractive enough to draw the attention of Timmy Olyphant

She looked really odd at the range, but looked fairly attactive (comparably) in the restaurant.

Half the thread was also apparently unclear on what that even meant.

She cleaned up well and actually did a good job playing the part, overall it was a fun ep if not a bit over complicated in the scam. Timothy Olyphant was nails as always and their face off at the end was great, though I'd imagine Pryce defied some of the laws of physics on his shot.

Skipping a 3 iron like that is plenty do-able

Interesting, not a golfer so that seemed kind of insane but cool to know that it's doable.

Yep, I've done it with a wedge. You have to blade the **** out of it.

I did it accidentally at the A&M course recently but it was just one skip.on the water's surface, not several.

I think mine was two. It was at Bridlewood in Flower Mound. Didn't make the green becuase of the hill, but it wasn't in the hazard.

With my right to left slice, I have found the water plenty on this one. Not that time!

No one is disputing anything you're saying. We're simply wondering if the people here using the word "trans" understand that someone using different pronouns isn't the same as being transgender.
Probably a derail but... acting like these things are easy to keep up with is a stretch. They are in constant transition Id guess most people over 25 would fail the test.

I agree it was the plan from the start, I think they designed it that way for a couple of reasons. One in case Ross saw through the ruse and two they feared they didn't have anything that Ross valued except for humiliating Stick. So they continued to humiliate Stick to implant the idea in Ross's mind that he could beat him on the course which would be enough to put the exemption on the table.

They made it a point that Ross was nowhere as good of golfer and Ross knew it. So they had to really bait the trap that he could beat Stick on the course so that he would put up the exemption.

But the real answer is because the writers wanted to hustling the audience. Hence all the meaningful looks and beats around Santi calling a zero a Clown which would meaningless to Ross.

Good episode tonight. I'm glad Stick handled his ex like he did. I love Zero and Mitt's talks. Nice twist at the end.

This show isn't great. I'm only a few episodes in, but it's pretty dang predictable, the dialogue sets nothing up, the characters are pretty unlikeable.

Owen Wilson is a loveable loser, but isn't very loveable. His constant pleading with everyone about everything is too much. His ex about the house, the boy to play golf, the mom to let him, the ex-caddie to come with them, etc etc. The writers need better dialogue, than to simply have Owen Wilson talk everyone into everything, every time.

The boy is a cocky brat. He's supposed to have given up the game because of his dad. I'd understand remorse, or an internal struggle with the decision to play...but instead, he just acts like God's gift to the world, and is uber-unappreciative of all Owen Wilson is doing for him. I'm sure they'll have some touching moments in the future, since the show seems predictable in that way, but man he's unlikeable early on.

I think my expectations are too high, since people said it was like Ted Lasso. I'll give it another episode or so to see if it reels me in, but this show doesnt hold a candle to Ted Lasso. So far, I really dont think there is much of a comparison between them at all. They both revolve around sports, but that's about it.

Nothin about the creators writing/producing history made me think he could capture the magic of Ted Lasso, and honestly it's been a struggle to get through.

I think I am about to bail on this one.

There's literally one episode left.

It's not a perfect show and it's no Ted Lasso (what is), but the last couple episodes have been fun and it's been a decent watch overall. Curious to see how they wind up the season and set it up for S2.

Decent season one finale last night, if not a little too cheesy for my taste. But I liked the main emotional arcs in general, and where everything netted out in that regard. They also hinted pretty heavily where season two will likely go, with that final scene, which is not a bad idea at all.

Pretty good finale. Maybe a little too Tin Cup like for my taste but it was obvious that was the way it was going.

Overall I enjoyed the season and will watch season 2.

This show kinda feels like the Olive Garden of "prestige" TV.

Before the finale I was hovering at a 7ish out of 10. The finale dropped me down to a 6.5 as the finale really highlighted the flaws of the show. Stock villains, unearned story beats, and hand waving at storylines.

Part of my disappointment with this show is that there was a much much better show with these pieces, but it just refused to get there.

Part of it is Santi just never gets there as a main character. Part of it is that it just does a bunch of telling instead of showing. For example, the nod between Timothy Olyphant and Owen Wilson at the end. Nothing happened between their characters and yet we are presented with them achieving some resolution?

Santi's father storyline felt very stilted as he really felt like a stock character. It was sort of funny that Mitts, Zero, and the Mom were basically shown holding each other unable to impact the action. As their storylines were put on pause.

Also, the golf part of the story really felt like someone used ChatGPT "golf facts and phrases" and just plugged the result straight into the show.

I will probably watch season 2 as some of the elements of the story were enjoyable. It was easy to watch during lunch, had some fun moments, and it was overall okay.
