Just saw this. I'm 48 yo for reference.

I couldn't wait for it to be over. I thought the story, casting, costume design, writing, special affects, main characters, secondary characters, music and that stupid dog were terrible.

No soul, not one moment that got you excited.

I would rather they have made the movie about the first 2 minutes of explanation "300 years ago, 30 years ago, . . . to 3 seconds ago" and that would have been at least interesting to watch.

This modern day, social media, Superman as a weak guy that needs testosterone treatment and make no sense story trying to be fictional and trying to make it look real life didn't work.

It felt like James Gunn was trying to hard to make it like Guardians of the Galaxy, but failed miserably.

The first time I saw GOTG and even now think it was one of the best movies in last 20 years.

I wouldn't watch this Superman again if it was on right now.

Not an F, but strong Deez naughts minus

This says more about you than the film.

Saw it over the weekend. I had high expectations based on what I'd heard and read. I expected an A, but came away thinking B-. Just felt really disjointed, a bit hollow and like they tried to pack too much into it. Kind of a master of none level quality to it. I'd recommend seeing it, but it's not the must see at the theaters type of quality I was hoping for.

Same. Really don't understand how anyone felt much of anything about it. Very hollow film with no emotion behind it.

Still think pretty much everything besides the dad death scene in MoS was better by a wide margin.

Loved the actor who played Superman but that movie sucked.

Terrible story, terrible tone, colors were wrong, Lex was too emotional and unintelligent.

I love this style for Guardians but Superman isn't the fun silly movie in a universe.

Green Lantern deserved better. Worst movie portrayal of a comic book hero ever.

It's a F. Just total crap

I'm a bit of a DC comics nerd, and I thought this was pretty bad. Superman was mopey/whiny and kind of stupid, Lex Luthor was kind of stupid, the action scenes seem like a large portion of them didn't even involve Superman, the dog was the real hero despite also being kind of stupid (in a friendly dog kind of way), and the relatives weren't familiar with the Superman story so they had no idea why they were supposed to care about Superman other than he saved a squirrel.

Superman allows himself to be put in prison (stupidly), and luckily the only person that would have ever revealed where he's being held is the (stupid) girlfriend who just happens to be infatuated with Jimmy Olsen. Luckily, despite creating a universe, Lex never thought to stop her from taking selfies next to top secret information.

Superman got the James Gunn snark/sarcasm treatment, and they couldn't even let Superman deliver his appeal to morality speech without cutting it off with the dog attacking Lex. If the rest of the DC movies follow suit, I'll be pretty disappointed, and if his Batman movie is anything similar to his Superman movie, I might end up in "Ackchyually" mode.

Gunn has stated that each DC project going forward will have its own style, appropriate to the character and director's intent. For example, Clayface is supposed to have a serious horror vibe.

I loved it. The vibe, the story, the actors, pretty much everything. That being said, I do think this is a kids' movie, and intentionally so. I don't know if Gunn has said as much, but this felt like a deliberate attempt at introducing Superman to a whole new generation. Intentional or not, my kid was fist pumping and cheering, and I couldn't help but smile and remember being his age and in awe of Michael Keaton's Batman. Seeing that movie in theaters gave me a lifelong love of the Caped Crusader that I still carry. I appreciate Nolan giving me his Batman movies and Matt Reeves giving me The Batman, but those movies are made for me, a grown up that already loves Batman. I hope Gunn can give the kids coming up superheroes they can make lifelong connections with.

Sorry but that movie sucked. It's rare to have a movie with that much action to be so boring. Mr. Fantastic was about the only redeeming quality of that turd.

I agree. This was a pretty big change from the interpretation that we are used to in live action but my grandparents were Kansas farmers and they would interact in a very similar way. And the scene with Clark and his dad brings a lot of humanity to them as parents which I thought was one of the best scenes in the film

I really didn't like Ma and Pa Kent in this movie compared with who their characters have been in the comics and other movies...

But Gunn is was a big Howard Stern fan and one of the show regulars is Richard Christie. He's from Kansas and Gunn even gave him a Cameo in one of Guardians.

Richard's dad calling in with updates from the family farm in Kansas became a big story on the show. If you listen to some of the calls it's not hard to think he was inspiration for the Kent's.

Finally saw it. Not gonna dissect the story too much, but I felt like that movie was a lot of fun. Superman has always been a boring character to me, but it felt like in every scene they were wondering how to add something fun to it.

Man, the haters out in force these last few pages.

Finally got to see this today and really enjoyed it. Brosnahan and Corenswet were nails and had great chemistry, and Corenswet is a legit movie star. Loved both sides of his identity, though I wish we'd gotten to see a bit more Clark.

All the side characters were great, especially the Justice Gang and Jimmy, and Krypto just about stole the show. As others have mentioned Hoult was great as Luthor but we seemed to lack a bit of backstory for his motivation. Glad to see that we didn't get much of the actual story in the trailer, thought the overall take was interesting and enjoyed seeing a more "human" Superman after the darker than needed Snyder version.

I thought the humor was good but did feel a bit misplaced at times, was also hoping we'd get one or two good needledrops as Gunn tends to do (though The Mighty Crabjoys were fun…he also mentioned POD?!). And the late movie scene with Supergirl was pretty great, (especially their Krypto behavior comments).

Overall it was a really fun ride and I think it's probably going to be more rewatchable than FF.
