I realize that John Oliver has zero credibility among a number of posters here, is nothing more than a liberal shill, etc, etc, but he absolutely brings the receipts in the segment below, re: Trump's suing of Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes, showing just how stupid and unjustified the whole thing was, to rgvag11's point. It starts around the 13:44 mark, but the whole thing is worth watching...

Correct. That's not in dispute. Rather, it's the timing of Skydance's public announcement of their adherence.

Of course she did. It's the double standard that Oliver presents that's the key. And of course the fact that no serious attorney would argue that Trump had any chance in hell at winning. The suit, rather, was a way to gum up the Skydance deal, as a means to ultimately get Paramount to kiss the ring/capitulate. Same as with ABC, Meta, what Trump is now trying to do with Fox News, etc, etc.
Why is Trump letting Colbert stay for 10 more months? If he can insist on Colbert getting 86'd he can surely bypass any contract. Trump can do anything!

I've already made my points. They massively cleaned up her answers when one of the public's main concerns about her is that she is a dummy (and the unedited version makes her look like a dummy)- true. There is nothing unusual about how long this merger is taking - true. I have more M&A experience in my little finger than John Oliver has on his staff - true.

The Redstone family wants to sellout to Skydance Media and make $2.25 billion.
The Trump administration has to approve the deal or things get real complicated.
Trump sues CBS over a case that every atty with a brain knows CBS can win.
The Redstone family capitulates to Trump for $36 million, and perhaps the firing of media personality he despises.

FWIW, almost all broadcast TV interviews are edited and CBS aired the entire interview, in pieces -- the part that was cut out of the evening broadcast was in the morning's teaser. Fox News, OTOH, did not air Trump's full answer to whether he would release the Epstein files.
That's not what 60 minutes was accused of. They didn't just condense/"snippit" the interview. They took answers from other questions and cut and paste them into other places when the answers Kamala gave were non-sensical. A media company lying to the public by flagrantly altering a politician's answers in an interview (whether for good or bad) should piss off anyone. Really says where we're at that there's disagreement on this. And if foxnews monkeyed with a Trump transcript like this, I'd feel the same way.

ETA: Fox News did 'monkey' with a Trump interview not airing his full answer about releasing the Epstein Files.
I see this as supporting Trump's stance on this. Before he was even elected he was saying that he would hesitate to release the files because anyone who is named in the files could have their lives ruined, regardless of context.
Who knows why Fox edited it that way. Did it actually air as the edited version? Or was that a teaser promo?
Either way, this is materially different than editing. A candidates answer to try to make her look less of an imbecile.
