If you were to watch 1 Robert Redford movie this week, what would it be?

The Natural or Sting for the ones I've seen.
But for one I haven't seen, All the Presidents Men or Three Days of the Condor

Same although I'm not sure if I've actually seen The Sting....

I've not seen it but remember my parents going to see it and leaving my brother to watch me for the first time.

My 8th Grade history teacher showed us The Sting and All the President's Men. I've been a RR fan ever since.

I'll be watching The Natural and Waldo Pepper this week. Haven't seen them.

Sneakers doesn't get near enough love.

Sneakers is amazing, and while the technology is insanely dated by today's standards the concept behind what they're doing is so relevant it's almost uncanny.

The nuance and natural delivery in every line delivered in this scene is a master class. "Next time!"

I loved him in a Bridge Too Far. He's so great in that ensemble.

Jeremiah Johnson or The Natural.

All The Presidents Men is a better movie, but Three Days of the Condor is routinely on streaming and it's a fun watch with Max Von Sydow as the "bad guy".

It's like a Tom Cruise action flick with Redford.

Absolute legend.

The Sting is one of the rare perfect movies.

There a scene from Better Call Saul that is an almost exact match from The Sting, where the dude gets rolled in the alley.

One of my favorites is The Natural. For the longest time it was in my top 10 list!

Such an understated iconic actor.

RIP.

A great one. I met him once....very nice actually.

You know that Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah. Well he was there for it staying at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley where we were for a ski trip in Jan of 1982 maybe. Met him at dinner in the lodge he had a big group of 12 or so. None of the others were famous I think just people with the film festival which he had founded in the late 70s. Smaller lodge and there were not many people bothering him. But he shook hands and signed some autographs on the way in. I was 16 but certainly knew who he was.

My favorites:
All The Presidents Men
Brubaker
The Sting
The Natural
Sneakers - one of the last movies for River Phoenix

So he was actually the founder of Sundance…and you were there in around year 4

Yeah. I was not at Sundance to be clear. I was skiing at Deer Valley which is up the mountain from Park City which hosts Sundance.

Redford happened to be at the same place - I guess I don't actually know if he was staying there or just having dinner there - would not surprise me if he had a home around there as there were always some high dollar homes in the area.

I didn't see "All the Presidents Men" until i was in my 30s, but that movie is textbook of great actors creating a world. RR, Hoffman, and Jason Robards could have done it as a one-act play and been just as good without al the locations.

This is a long clip from All the President's Men, but I love it's intensity.
Redford was the absolute champion for this film. He was following the Watergate story in the Washington Post before it was ever a blip on the national news. This movie was his from start to finish.

Wow! Really?

Curious how old you are. Not chiding you at all, just funny how celebrity fades and the culture moves on as time passes. That image is instantly recognizable as Redford to folks my age and older.

To anyone under 30 they assume it's Zach Galifianakis doing a bit.

What, no "Indecent Proposal" love?

Redford...and absolute peak Demi Moore.

RIP. I actually need to watch some of his classics that I missed. My 70s gaps are pretty embarrassing really.

Top 3: The Sting, Butch and Sundance, and Jeremiah Johnson. The Natural gets honorable mention.

Edit- Forgot All the Presidents's Men.

Watching Jeremiah Johnson again now. Great movie. On the vendetta ride scene now. Wish that part had gone on a little longer.

The Sting is a must watch. It is perfect, start to finish and with one of the best casts ever assembled.

A Bridge Too Far is a must watch too, although it has some issues. Not perfect by any means. But it's as excellent as The Sting when it comes to the casting, performances, and music. We've lost so many great actors who were in their prime for A Bridge Too Far. Robert Redford, James Caan, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Laurence Olivier, Maximilian Schell, Dirk Bogarde, Ryan O'Neal, Denholm Elliott, and Jeremy Kemp. Still alive are Elliott Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Caine, Edward Fox, and Liv Ullmann. Crazy casting achievement that may never be surpassed.

Oscars for best picture, director, original screenplay, costume design, film editing, production design and score. Also, this was Redford's only best actor nomination.

One of my favorite movies of all time. It is so much fun, especially a certain poker scene.

Redford. Poitier. Kingsley. Then add Akroyd and Phoenix. Plus a cameo by James Earl Jones.

The cast is crazy for that film.

I think they could, the last Mission Impossible actually kind of touched on some similar themes. You'd have to heavily involve AI for sure, but there's some very MI type themes with the security, hacking, etc.

Trying to match that cast, however, would be tough. If you haven't seen it it's very worth the watch.

I'd love to see The Natural for the first time again. One of the best sports movies ever. Almost perfect. Good guys wear white, bad guys wear dark clothes.
