Jimmy Kimmel claims "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it" and "This is not how an adult… pic.twitter.com/KMhnskaYWD

I don't love the guy, but pretty tame comments to be pulling the FCC card.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way," Carr said. "These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."
Carr added that the broadcasters, including ABC, "have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest."
To be clear, this isn't over anything remotely inflammatory about the shooting itself, but a mere suggestion of the shooter's politics. Accurate statement or not (on a comedy show, mind you), this is a genuinely baffling response, and blatant kowtowing to authoritarianism. https://t.co/ByxDFhXUgS pic.twitter.com/0IoWRJ7YtW

I can't keep up with whether MAGA is pro or anti cancel culture. It almost seems to depend on the politics of whoever is being cancelled.

The govt pushed social media companies to suppress and/or ban people that were posting things they didn't like in 20/21. They actually took direct action. In this instance, there was no direct action taken, only vague threats of "easy way or hard way". Granted, there may have been in the future, but up to this point, there wasn't.

This both sides **** is so tiresome. The link above shows how petty and ridiculous it was for people who were doing things as innocuous as making an OK symbol with their hand. The only people who are having issues now are those who openly celebrate or mock a man that was murdered in cold blood in front of his family and thousands of fans for daring to have free and unfettered conversations about topics he believed to be important in this country. He was murdered because the people that mock him openly called him and the people that hold those same opinions Nazis and fascists.
Jimmy Kimmel being fired is the funniest thing that has ever come out of his show

With Kimmel getting canned I’m seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if…
