How about we focus on promoting the policies the people want instead of having to rig the game to win?

Because the Democrats rig the game, too. But, they do it unabashedly. Like NY and CA, for example.

Texas is just trying to even the already rigged playing field.

That ship has sailed and Democrats started this and they're not gonna stop so you won't win if you don't fight the same way.

Dont we lose representatives by not counting illegals in the census? You can just redistrict to gain the seats for Rs without giving up the total number of representatives in the state... Right?

I don't disagree, at all. I've never voted democrat, but now I'm finding it hard to actually support many Republicans. I'll continue to vote for them because they fit closest to my beliefs, but very few politicians actually care about the people anymore.

Pass election integrity like Florida and democrat seats will magically disappear.

I don't think we need redistrict TX-34. It is a +10 Trump District. Vicente will lose and should have lost. Mayra Flores lost because she was a terrible candidate. Word on the street is that she will come back to TX-34 if the redistricting occurs.

The current districts are still in court from the last redistricting!

We should be able to do both. And it's not rigging the game. Texas is heavily red, so it's redrawing the districts to more accurately represent the voters of Texas.

It is not a Trump +10 district, it's more like a D+5 district if you don't run a galactically stupid Dem.

2020
President Biden 57% - 42%
Senate Hegar 56% - 41%

2022
Governor O'Rourke 56% - 43%
Lt. Governor Collier 53% - 44%
Attorney General Mercedes Garza 57% - 41%
Comptroller of Public Accounts Dudding 53% - 41%

2024
President Trump 52% - 47%
Senate Allred 52% - 46%

The 2024 Election was the first one under the last redistricting map with Trump at +5. When you take into consideration the voter fraud that the Dems commit, it gets to +10!

Gerrymandering insanity is killing this country. Based on the popular vote in statewide elections Texas should have 4 or 5 more democrats in the house. And all of them should be more beholden to all of there constituents.

Instead you get monstrcities like what Trump is signing today.

Just last year NY gerrymandered 5 Republican seats out of existence. The state voted 55% Dem and 45% Republican but now the Republicans hold 15% of the state's House seats. NJ did similar and Minnesota is about to do the same after the communists won a majority on the MN Supreme Court.
You can't fix stupid.

But if TEXAS did the same, the media and the left (but I repeat myself) would screech to the high heavens about the fascist behavior of the Nazi conservatives DISENFRANCHISING Democratic voters...

Quote:

National Democratic leaders are encouraging state Democrats in the Texas House to consider walking out of a special legislative session this month to block Republicans from redrawing the state's congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

At the same time, President Trump held his own call on Tuesday with congressional Republicans in the state, urging them to carve out five new G.O.P. seats from those held by Democrats, according to a person briefed on that call, which was first reported by Punchbowl News.

And therein lies the rub. We can go try to redistrict all we want, but Burros has a bunch of democrat friends that he owes favors to for helping him get the speaker's gavel. He knows he won't be speaker again if he cuts them off at the knees like we should be doing with the majorities we have. So any redistricting we want to do will have to be acceptable to Burrow's democrat buddies or Burrows will throw a wrench in it and make sure it doesn't happen.

Newsome now saying he'll redistrict California to offset/negate any additions gained via Texas redistricting.

California is already gerrymandered to get a 43-9 Dem advantage. A few extra late ballots may have helped, but how many more can they squeeze out?

Texas currently has a 25-13 Rep advantage.

Abbott should repeat easily, but we'll have a contentious Senate primary.

Five more seats is probably pushing it.

Yeah, I'm skeptical of this idea, especially with the speaker being so dependent on the Democrat caucus.

When Republicans did this in 2003, party leadership was much more aligned and unified, with extra backing from Tom DeLay and the Bush machine.
