It's destructive for democracy for states to go about gerrymandering the districts. And it's especially destructive if the gerrymandering escalates with more tit for tat.

That horse left the barn decades ago. Sorry about it.

As with all things the Ds have done lately to change the rules to benefit themselves, they sure hate it when Rs use those same rules to the detriment of Ds. Just wait until 2030 when we take away seats from CA and NY and give them to TX, FL, and TN.

What you libs don't realize is that everything the right does is almost always in reaction to your sides stupidity. Trump is, and has been, one big reaction to what the left became under Obama and afterward. Liberals are hypocrites of the highest order. Your sides worst fear is conservatives becoming proactive.

We just lived through 4 years of a presidential monarchy. They jailed dissenters and the opposition candidate. Do you not remember?

Already lived through it from 2021-2024. Trump is reacting to it and has stocked his cabinet with people whose lives were abused by the king's federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

I have never understood why House members don't have to live in the districts they supposedly represent? Just encourages more separation from their so-called constituents.

Those with an actual (D) by their name.

Running off to Illinois and New York, both of which are gerrymandered as much as possible to help the Democrats.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I still think if you deliberately leave and refuse to represent your district when the house is in session for the purpose of preventing the house from doing business, you have abandoned your seat and the governor should be allowed to replace you. This is stupid that we let the minority stop all business in the house whenever they decide to take their ball and leave.

Just change the quorum rule from 2/3 to 50+1.

Increase the penalty for breaking quorum to $10k/day and make it personal. No election funds usable. Straight from personal monies.

Redistricting for the sake of gaining seats is anti democracy. Not sure what breaking quorum does long term but this power grab should be looked down upon by anyone who votes. The seats are supposed to rep the public.

Or how about 30 days in Jail for everyday of unexcused absence. 12 days not showing up will cost you a year.

This isn't the first time the Democrats have fled the state. One time they went to Oklahoma and another time they flew to DC.
