I'm not goaltending. I'm asking why a specific person who was in congress while his party was in control didn't demand answers then but now is?

I'm good with that. It's just ridiculous for someone to draw a line in the sand now.
why is the president, who demanded answers all along the campaign trail, desperate to move on without providing answers now that he's in a position to do so? this is the crux of the issuejja79 said:

Mr. Schnitt ought to think about updating his resume. How can the Trump admin **** up their handling of this next?

This new Epstein wave really started when Elon tweeted that Trump himself was in the Epstein files and that was the reason that they wouldn't be released. Did Elon get ahold of the information unredacted?

Everyone knew Trump was in the Epstein files from the beginning. He's in there for business and socializing reasons, not for kid-diddling reasons. Saying Trump is in the Epstein files is not the gotcha that people think it is.
Quote:
At the presser on Wednesday, survivors' lawyer Brad Edwards described that when he was first seeking information about Epstein in 2009, Trump was one of the few people who cooperated, though tellingly, Trump appears to have done so without deposition.
Bradley Edwards (01:04:44):
I'll go first and then I'll let them. They're much more important than me, but I don't understand why it's a hostile act. I can tell you that I talked to President Trump back in 2009 and several times after that. He didn't think that it was a hoax Then. In fact, he helped me. He got on the phone, he told me things that were helping our investigation. Now, our investigation wasn't looking into him, but he was helping us then. He didn't treat this as a hoax.

From the Mike Johnson "Trump is an FBI informant thread", Kansas Kid was helpful in providing the full unedited clip from ABC News so folks can listen to what Speaker Johnson said regarding Trump being an informant.

It seems reasonable the Mike Johnson was referring to comments the day prior at Massie's presser.Quote:

From another guy not overly friendly to the Trump admin and who says Trump has indeed done an "about face" on this, which is hard to defend admittedly: https://www.emptywheel.net/2025/09/07/mike-johnson-snitch-tags-donald-trump/

Definitely. Which is why I don't think Trump is necessarily protecting himself. It would have been pretty easy for him to come out 6 months ago and say yeah 15 years ago Epstein was my best friend.
Which only points to him, the current DOJ, and the previous, covering for someone or something very important, which is far worse in my opinion. Which is also the answer to "But why didn't Biden release this to ruin Trump?"
It's because the facts won't ruin just Trump or just Clinton, they will ruin our system of government.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) backed off his claim that President Trump was an FBI informant in the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. https://t.co/xqRozV17D2

It was a fantastical story for about a day. What compelled (former career attorney) Mike Johnson to claim the President was an FBI informant? https://t.co/pUXDYadF58 pic.twitter.com/n5Q46WwrOA
