It means there's certainly a tsunami. At that depth to have a 3ft rise could translate into a really big tsunami elsewhere

That's so crazy. My parents are in Alaska right now too. I just checked the dates. Thankfully my parents don't leave on their Alaskan cruise until the 1st. Definitely prayers for everyone.

That's gonna cause some problems for low areas and resorts that are a few feet above sea level.. 10 ft wave may / could go to 20 ft or higher if the topography isn't favorable (ie channeling wave into a smaller area) they need to get everyone out of there .. you just can't chance it.. no reason for loss of life with a 3 hour warning

There are some pretty good news channels talking about this now …. In the 1950s a similar quake (9.0) in the same area off the Russian coast caused a 30 ft tsunami wave in some areas of the Hawaiian islands …. They are hoping 3 meters is the max height
